TITLETOWN - A Decade Long Celebration Of The Greatest Achievement In College Athletics History => Kansas State Football => Topic started by: Pete on September 08, 2014, 12:24:57 PM

Lately there has been quite a bit of talk, maybe too much talk, in the football coaching community about the high probability that Kansas State will "Piss Pound" Auburn next week (their term, not mine).
As most of you know, LHC Bill Snyder's coaching tree is vast, far greater, for example, than that of someone who was coaching high school sports a handful of years ago. It is through these numerous and distinguished channels that this opinion radiates.
Apparently there are a number of factors contributing to this. Key among them are sentiments such as, but not limited to; "Auburn has not seen a quarterback like Jake Waters since Cam walked off campus," "Ryan Mueller would be the 1 overall draft pick if he played on the over-hyped SEC, and would easily be the Defensive Player of the Year in that conference," "Tyler Lockett will earn MILLIONS after scouts see his film against Auburn." It goes on and on...
I was curious if you guys on this board were thinking similarly about this game?
For me, it seems to jibe with my gut feeling as well.
-
Cake walk.
-
I just hope we don't overlook them. UTEP looked really solid against Tech, and I could easily see us looking forward to trying to prevent that from becoming a real slobberknocker.
-
Who am I to disagree with a coaching tree as legendary as LHC Bill Snyder's?
-
I think the "piss pound" talk has probably died down a bit since our somewhat underwhelming performance against ISU. I think a win by 10-17 pts is much more realistic, in line with the Vegas odds makers.
-
In their 3 games with the former middle of the pack Big12 teams that joined the SEC-SEC-SEC, they've allowed an AVERAGE of 49 points per contest. I'd say your sources are pretty accurate.
 :emawkid:

I just wish we would have played this game last week and had ISU next Thurs. Quite honestly, we could have used the Auburn game as a warm up and could have really used the extra time to get more prepared for ISU.

Fair point.
-
I think a large amount of this conjecture is based on the homefield advantage at BSFS. The noise is something Auburn isn't used to and can't effectively be reproduced.
-
I'm already looking ahead to UTEP. Did you guys see what they did to Kingsbury? His hair was all messed up by the 3rd quarter.
-
Why did they hire a high school coach for their football team? Are they like super poor because they are in the south?

thats part of it. moreso though they spent all there money buying players.

There is a great quote from former USC coach Pete Carroll about how BSFS is the loudest in the country, so I suspect you are right.

Yep. That's the one... But Kstater's call him Peter. We earned that.

Certainly looks like it could be a trap game. Just hope LHCBS can keep the boys focused for a couple of quarters at least.

A few notes on the state of Alabama's B team and the SEC as a whole:
Chizik: Was an awful coach at a bottom feeder Big 12 school. Goes to Auburn and destroys the SEC. Auburn: taking ISU's leftovers and still able to beat a conference because it is terrible.
Tuberville: Coaches at Auburn for like 20 years and can't hack it in the Big 12. He won an SEC title (maybe more?) and couldn't break 7 wins in the Big 12.
SEC DPOY Sams - Best defensive player in the conference barely gets drafted and gets sent to a practice squad. Auburn's offense puts up points because their best defensive player in the whole conference can't even make an NFL roster
This game is going to be similar to when we beat Miami a couple of years ago. KSU by 28+

I don't follow this thread, what does the Truth have to do with any of this?

These are all completely objective verifiable facts, and I do not think there is room to debate that this will be the best team Auburn has ever faced.
But don't forget, they've had this game circled on their calendar for years. Based on the level of competition in the SEC, I expect Auburn spent about 50% of its practice time prepping for the K-State game every week last year while they coasted through that division A&M has been exposing ever since they arrived. Taking this into account, a 14-point Cats victory may be more realistic.
-
i'll be honest with you, when i pulled up the schedule a few weeks ago and found out we were playing auburn this fall, the first thing that came to mind is, why? we have nothing to prove by beating the tigers.
but over the past week or so i honestly think that head coach snyder wants to give his newer players a chance to play against an SEC team prior to the CFB playoff this january. the SEC plays a slower, grind it out system similar to what you see in the B10. a lot of their offenses rely on trickery and getting their opposition, "off balance". the best way to prepare for this type of team is to play against one.
obviously saban isn't going to schedule snyder knowing he doesn't want to face him twice in one regular season game and one cfb playoff game. so auburn, you're up.
and yes, we're going to dominate them.
-
To be honest, it will be nice to play a team from a conference that doesn't play much defense. A shootout will be a nice change of pace from the rugged Big 12 type of football, I would like yo see or 'Cats playing football on grass.
-

 :emawkid:
Texas A&M and Missouri?
Well they beat both of them last season and in 2012, Texas A&M... that "middle or the road BIg 12 team" beat Oklahoma by like 4 touchdowns.
Keep on thinking that aTm is the same team that couldn't win the Big 12 if it makes you feel better.
The SEC really is that good. It doesn't guarantee Auburn beats Kansas State or any other individual game result... but the gap in talent and depth between the two conferences is large.

When was the last time Pinkle put in a full day? 2 yrs? They guy is in working retirement. :driving:  :driving:

This is spot on. I too was wondering what Snyder was thinking by putting these guys on the schedule, but now it makes perfect sense.

Look, we are trying to have a conversation about the upcoming K-State vs Auburn game. If you want to "flame" or horse around I'd ask that you pick another thread or even a different message board.

Back in my day, K-State beat Missouri and Texas A&M before they left the division. :gocho:

Yeah, but it was no big deal. Most of the league beat them pretty much every year.

I remember not too long ago beating A&M like 80-0 before Bill felt sorry for them and started putting a few of our fans in to play

So is the gap between Alabama/LSU and the rest of the SEC-SEC-SEC.
Outside of your myopic 10 state region, there's a reason why the rest of the CFB world thinks of the SEC-SEC-SEC as Bama/LSU and the 12 dwarfs.
Now, to disprove that, tell me about the miracle that allowed you to luck into a "championship" game vs a team coached by Gary Pinkel.

Spot on - Sucks that we had to schedule the B team but hopefully it helps to prepare our guys
-
I think it will be interesting to see at what point Auburn just gives up. Most teams play us tough until we get up by about 30, but I'm thinking Auburn's breaking point might be closer to 20. It could get really ugly if that's the case.
-
If you are the athletic director at KU or Iowa State, you have to be looking at what A&M and Missouri are doing in the SEC and having some early discussions on whether you should move your football team to that conference as well.
-
ya, i can't wait until the 3rd quarter when the espn announcers start talking about all the problems that auburn is having with cramps and dehydration
you can set a clock to it, folks. teams come into BSFS and the heat and humidity of kansas in the fall and their conditioning just goes out the window. then the whining begins.
this is big boy football kiddos, welcome aboard

ISU would have taken no lower than third in the East last two seasons.

I'm going to deliver an in depth break down on this game. Keep your eyes peeled for it.

Meat goat money does buy a lot of calls.

Big12 refs have already got an idea from the conf who to back for the big dance, guys.

Looking forward to this. CAS typically has information that many are not privy to.

Very torn about this. Obviously Auburn is not going to get a single "judgement call" to go their way in BSFS, which is great for us. However, I'd hate for that to take away from our win in the eyes of the national media.
It is what it is, I guess.

Tuberville was not fired from Texas Tech. He left on his own to go to Cincy. Cincinnati was a more attractive program in a more attractive city in a more attractive conference than Texas Tech.

The first over all hasn't even been able to hardly see the field this year yet and rumblings are than he has a lot of work to do before he will. pfft

Remember a couple weeks ago when all the SEC-SEC-SEC teams started calling KU to schedule a game? How does the 'hawks picking up an extra win each year affect our poking fun at them for being the suck?

I'd rather you avoid making a bunch of "he said she said" type arguments here. Many of us are attempting to be objective and break this game down for our posters/readers. TIA.

SEC teams not named Alabama and LSU have won 4 BCS championships. How does that compare to say, the Big 12 outside of Oklahoma and Texas?

tubberville had a 9-17 big12 conference record and was going to get fired if he didn't voluntarily leave. one of the best ever at auburn, but just another jobber punching the clock trying to get to a bowl game in a conference where everybody has to play everybody and there are no vanderbilts, kentuckys, old miss, miss states to skate through. just is what it is. always seemed like a class act though. i wish him the best.

This is what Bobby Lowder and his crew of bag-men call it after they buy a stable of recruits for some "yes man" like Chizik or Tuberville, right? Auburn is the dirtiest of the dirty and there's absolutely NO disputing that.

No disputing it, huh? Auburn hasn't had any major NCAA violations in more than 2 decades and the NCAA investigated the Cam Newton and cleared Auburn of wrongdoing.
Sucks to be wrong, huh?
Then again, you think I am delusional for thinking Auburn will be a double digit favorite over KSU.

Why is Snyder scheduling cupcakes this late in the season? I mean weeks one and two, sure. But by week three shouldn't you be getting into the meat of yor schedule and preparing for the grind of conference play? I can't imagine the pay day Auburn is getting to come be sacrificed at the BSFS altar. T's an P's, Crimson Tide.

I'm just really afraid the stadium is going to be half-full (or empty!) for this game. You have to consider it with many responsible #1cat's having class or work early the next workday. Why risk missing work or class for a game the cats will win by 1000? Seems risky. Go cats!

Cool. Thanks for the tip!

Maybe you didn't know this, but Kansas State University is chicken and waffles. Just trying to help.

I would guess that would be a question better posed for Michael Slive... But, I hear John Skipper is a happy man.

Some of these Auburn guys are defensively surly.
-
Word is Snyder has been holding back key parts the playbook and a couple of big time play makers because he really wants to show up Auburn and the SEC on a big stage and finish what Stoops started. :Wha: Apparently, he feels they are at least partially responsible for the current landscape of college football that he went off about earlier this Summer. :dunno:
-
Can't wait for him to march Clinks and Dvonta down the ramp.

Of course The SEC network doesn't have any KSU games. We haven't played an SEC team yet. Our major network is FS1.
Gonna win 'em all!

Just got done watching the first quarter of your game against East Peoria State School for the Blind or whatever they are called. Besides looking rusty like everyone else at that time, it did seem to me like your guys are smaller and slower than I am used to seeing. I decided to go to Rivals and 247Sports to check on team recruiting rankings since 2010 and found some interesting data. The numbers below are the combined recruiting ratings for each team broken down by year and recruiting service.

"Double-wides." Like the man said: Poverty is so real in the south.

I understand having faith in your team and everything, but these Auburn fans don't really believe they will win, do they? Ron Prince walked into Jordan-Hare and nearly beat their GOAT coach with Josh Freeman splitting time with Jordy Nelson at QB. They don't really think that their HS coach and his gimmicky offense will be able to upset a LHC Bill Snyder team at home, do they? I hate to burst their respective bubbles, but they will be lucky to be in the game at half time.

I don't think you guys have a realistic image of what Auburn Football is:
Don't take my word for it... read what this guy from Syracuse wrote about Auburn a few year ago... (BTW: it's better now...)
================================
Go to Auburn, be forever changed
October 03, 2002
BUD POLIQUIN
POST-STANDARD COLUMNIST
I have descended into college football's Grand Canyon. I have stood in its Alps. I have gazed at its ocean sunset. I have done all of these things and I've been changed forever.
I knew, of course, that we were different up here. I understood that autumn Saturdays in our burg have never been given over to any kind of serious sporting fervor. I've accepted for a good, long while that a fair amount of our citizens regularly choose to pick apples or seal driveways rather than head to the Carrier Dome to watch the Syracuse University Orangemen at play.
But, Lord have mercy on our college football souls, I've come to realize we're not merely quirky in these parts. And we're not just overly particular. No, having attended a game in Auburn, Ala. - which is like going to Mass in Rome - I'm convinced that, by comparison, we're as dead as the flying wedge.
"Let me tell you something," said Paul Pasqualoni, the SU coach who can recognize bedlam when he is forced to shout above it. "Being in that stadium with all those people - the noise level, the atmosphere - was exciting. It was a lot of fun. To me, it was just spectacular being there."
He was speaking of Jordan-Hare Stadium, where four days earlier his SU club had lost to the Auburn Tigers 37-34 in an environment that was equal parts Woodstock, Mardi Gras, New Year's Eve and Madonna's last wedding. And the Crimson Tide boys, those rascals from the other side of the state, weren't even in town, to say nothing of the Bulldogs, Gators or Razorbacks.
Nah, it was just the Orangemen, a non-league bunch from somewhere up north ... with a losing record yet. But it didn't matter. This, because the cherished Tigers were on the other side, and that was enough for those Alabama locals to respond the way the French did when Patton's army showed up in Paris.
"I missed my wife's birthday so I could cheer on my beloved alma mater against Syracuse," Brent Miller wrote in an e-mail addressed to me following the three-overtime affair. "But you know what? I would have been there if our opponent had been the state of New York's worst high school team."
"Country, God and college football are usually our top three passions," e-mailed another Auburn guy, Steve Fleming. "But not always in that order."
"I grew up in Denver in a family with season tickets to the Broncos games," e-mailed yet another believer, Rick Pavek. "I call Auburn home now and, take my word for this, Broncomania is nothing like Tigermania."
The point is, with the Orangemen returning to the gray Dome that is so often lifeless to play Big East Conference foe Pittsburgh on Saturday, it's clear that somebody's not getting it. Either the Auburn faithful - and people like them in Knoxville and South Bend and Lincoln and Gainesville and Columbus and Austin and elsewhere - are far too crazed or we're way too cool.
Listen, down there in eastern Alabama they pass out full-color, high-gloss, 22-by-17-inch, two-sided, fold-out pamphlets titled, "The 2002 Guide To Game Day At Auburn University." And on Page 2 of each can be found the announcement that nobody is allowed to begin tailgating until 4 p.m. icthe day before the game.nm
"You can't be anything but envious," said Jake Crouthamel, the Syracuse athletic director who was a wide-eyed witness to all of the SU-Auburn doings. "You can't be anything but envious when you have that kind of support. I mean, there were 84,000 people in the seats. And the RVs and house trailers were lined up five miles outside of town. When you talk about the epitome of what the college football experience is all about ... that's it. Auburn is the epitome. You couldn't possibly be unaware of the spectacle, even if you were trying to be unaware."
The orange-clad zealots, who are in their seats fully 30 minutes prior to kickoff, thunder through choreographed cheers. The band, which is saluted upon its arrival by the big house with a standing ovation, blares. The PA system, which continuously blasts the sounds of a growling tiger, pipes in songs by the Dixie Chicks and interviews with the Auburn coaches.
Before the game, there is the great Tiger Walk during which the Auburn players march along Donahue Street through thousands of people, some of whom weep, and into the stadium. After the game, there is the mass papering of famous Toomer's Corner downtown. And between all of that, a golden eagle circles the place before landing on the field to a deafening roar.
And us? Um, let's see. We can't fill 49,000 seats. We debate, ad nauseam, standing-vs.-sitting in the Dome. We give our tickets to takers at the door who had to be schooled in the art of courtliness. We regularly vacate the joint long before the final gun. We allow, in a good-idea-gone-bad, a bunch of vulgar louts planted in a thing called "The O-Zone" to chant expressions you'd never say in front of Mom at the dinner table.
In other words to compare our college football experience to that of Auburn (and a lot of other places) is to compare a skillet of beans to a plate of Chilean sea bass. And while that might sound harsh, it doesn't make the words any less true.
Believe me on this. Please. I have descended into college football's Grand Canyon. I have stood in its Alps. I have gazed at its ocean sunset. I have attended a game at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala. And I've been changed forever.

Agreed, but the article should tell you that Auburn (fans, players, and coaches) do not feel the need to take a back seat to anyone. Let us not forget that we played in the big game last year and have most of our team back including our QB... What was K-State's record last year...??? Just asking...

OK, I hate to tell you, but that's not exactly news. And Auburn (of all fanbases) should now that "last year's" record doesn't exactly mean so much. I mean what do you want us to say? "oh by Auburn is sure gonna whoop us good der der der..." ? Would that make your day?

Absolutely not....
I just read 5 pages of how you guys were going to crush us and felt the need to respond... I think it will be a real good game, but I fully expect Auburn to win... I hope for a clean, well played game with no injuries on either side... My score prediction is AU-38, KState-24

I'm just really afraid the stadium is going to be half-full (or empty!) for this game.
Can confirm. Almost every Wildcat fan I know is not able to make the game. Damn weeknights :shakesfist:

Sweet... here's hoping your coaches and players feel the same way...
How about a wager...???
If K State wins, I'll come over here and laud your team, mentioning YOU by name and saying how right you were...
If Auburn wins, you do the same for me... right here.
BTW... there are lots of kinds of prejudice in the world, and southerners have been guilty of their fair share... but you people reek of southern prejudice. Surely, there are toothless, ignorant people in the south... but there are also some of the most lucid, intelligent, salt of the earth people in the world there also.... you guys should get out more... :driving:

i'll share some "info" i was sent from a "friend"
taking marshall out of the game: 1500 bux
every sack of marshall: 235 bux
every horse collar: 200-215 bux depending on severity of horse collar tackle
every auburn player who leaves with "knee issues": 500 bux for cart-off, $225 bux for helped-off
there's more but i'm not going to share them here. go cats, get rich.

Amazing.......
I wanted to watch some of your team so far this season and there are no replays scheduled on tv, and WatchESPN has nothing. How much do you have to suck for that to happen?
Poverty is so real in the south. Smh
Not so much in my neighborhood. We have double-wides.
"Double-wides." Like the man said: Poverty is so real in the south.
To be fair, I've been in a pretty nice double wide. Could barely hear the neighbor beating his wife.

this autryn2 guy has a real attitude problem and I don't like it one bit
It's a southern thing

"Country, God and college football are usually our top three passions," e-mailed another Auburn guy, Steve Fleming. "But not always in that order."
This is not something to be actually proud of.
My score prediction is AU-38, KState-24
death taxes and assholes. every single year
If I have offended you, please accept my humble apology... but don't most loyal fans believe their team will win (just like you guys)...???
offended? nope you guys rely on moonshine and cig sales so if anything its empathy. as to the second part...being loyal and cheering your team on doesnt mean you have to go over the top batshit crazy. you guys were the luckiest team in the game last year so no one here is taking you serious. just another ho hum non con for our cats
Sweet... here's hoping your coaches and players feel the same way...

BTW... there are lots of kinds of prejudice in the world, and southerners have been guilty of their fair share... but you people reek of southern prejudice. Surely, there are toothless, ignorant people in the south... but there are also some of the most lucid, intelligent, salt of the earth people in the world there also.... you guys should get out more... :driving:
Guilty of your fair share? You enslaved people and sacrificed lives to attempt to keep the practice alive. Thank god people with superior genetics, brains, and moral code best your asses.

Also, I guess a prerequisite for a trailor purchase is domestic violence...???
Maybe show your credit score and police rap sheet...???

This is a bit off topic, but we have reason to believe there will be NO Big 12 drug testing following a Thursday night game. All testing is delayed until a following Saturday matchup.

I have it on good authority that the coaches passed out 'roid rocks at the team meeting this morning. They are like pop rocks, but with 'roids instead of candy. The players are supposed to eat one bag of them per day until Thursday and lay off the soda.

Well, first of all, half this board practices Reformed Judaism, prolly 20% Muslim, and rest is Catholic. SD and some of those Western Kansas guys are Lutheran, but that's about it.
These Auburn Evangelical Protestants are essentially devil worshipers in the eyes of Yahweh.

Excellent plan. They will need it. It would suck if we had to go all of the way to Kansas just to play an FCS type team.

I agree. Our hardworking Kansans mix well with 'roids. I expect the players to bulk up nicely just in time to obliterate Auburn next week. What was going to be a 10 point victory is now going to be a bloodbath. Call your bookie now. This is the lock of the week.

When asked his early impression of K-State’s next opponent, No. 5 Auburn, Snyder chuckled and replied:
“Tremendously talented football team. Physical football team, fast football team, athletic football team, execute well, coached well, one of the best teams in the country. What else you want?”
 I've always been a fan of Snyder's sarcasm, but this takes it to a whole new level. Notice he couldn't even say it with a straight face.

That's nearly verbatim what he said about Michigan before we destroyed them in the bowl game.

i dont really understand the "looking towards UTEP" comments. auburn is a pretty good offensive team and were going to have our hands full on defense, but i think our depth at DL and CB will be huge. the biggest advantage we have here is when we have the ball and waters can take it and run. he tore up ISU with his legs last week and i think he will do the same against a big, but slow defense like auburn has. our offense with a mobile QB should be able to outscore their offense. look for this one to be a shoot out:
ksu cats 45, auburn 35.

Since you must not be very good at the interwebs, here ya go: http://lmgtfy.com
Maybe you're better at math than searching for info... K-State won roughly 3 TIMES as many games in 2013 (a down year) as what Allbarn did in 2012. Does that help?
What if I told you that K-State hasn't gone winless in conference play since 1989 or has won AT LEAST 5 games every season since 1990. How does a similar streak hold up for you racist rednecks? My research shows Auburn with a winless conference season in 2012 and a 3-9 overall record just 2 years ago?

Guys, I need some advice on what to do next Thursday. I have two tests the morning after this game that I need to do well on so I can become :kstategrad:
Should I even bother going to watch us punk these losers, or should I just go to the library and make sure to ace my tests on Friday? I haven't missed a home game in a few years, and keeping that streak is the only reason I'm considering going.

Bring your books in the stadium, and your drafting board and other supplies. Should be ample room and limited noise to get your studying done while you watch the cats pound little brother Auburn.

I agree... the stadium usually goes quiet and most of the fans leave when the home team is getting the crap beat out of them.... :)
Wow. Nothing like a good dose of that good 'ol down home southern humor.
-
No way the Big12 refs let that happen. None of it.
I am told it will be an SEC crew officiating the game...
ppppppppfffffffffffffffffffttttttttttttttttt
No worries, they'll still favor the bluebloods. Not some flash-in-the-pan team that's only good during the seasons they can cobble together enough money to buy a good player.
A- source tells me Auburn gets their player money funnelled to them from tithe money the local evangelical megachurches collect. Basically whatever's left after the preachers buy themselves and their family members mansions, yachts, and luxury cars. Ever wonder why those players are always thanking God for their win? It's the athletic-evangelical complex that Eisenhower warned us about, and it's disgusting.
-
Guys, I need some advice on what to do next Thursday. I have two tests the morning after this game that I need to do well on so I can become :kstategrad:

No, it's just that it's hard to get too interested in an exhibition game meant as a warm-up for the real competition of the Big 12.

Auburn fans, during blowout wins, the K-State faithful have a long tradition of singing the opposing team's alma mater to make them feel better. So when the Cats go up by 30, at least you will hear a soothing "S-E-C S-E-C S-E-C" chant. Don't let the prospect of defeat keep you away from beautiful Manhattan, KS. We are very gracious winners.
-
I imagine they are getting a nice little chunk of change to come up here for a pounding. It's always good to see the blueboods like Alabama, Texas, Michigan, KSU, etc. able to give a handout to some of the less fortunate programs trying to scrape by.

There are no words. It's just "S-E-C" over and over. Haven't you ever watched a team from the south on tv?

Jebus. Some of my Auburn brethren do a better job killing comedy than Cousin Geri on The Facts Of Life.

I am now convinced more than ever that there is no way Auburn will able to handle the raucous crowd and snake pit atmosphere ABSFS (Angry LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium).

Have to say, I don't give my war eagles much of a chance coming into the Buzzsaw that is ABSFS. I, like most of the Auburn folks that I know, have already chalked this up as a "get 'em next time!" L, and we will all hope for a revenge game in 2022 when the GOAT LHCBS has long since shuffled off of this mortal coil. No, we Auburn fans are a simple folk. We till our lands. We fish our waters. We make a little homegrown on the side. We bang our relatives. So, in the spirit of competition, we ask that you are cordial upon our arrival, but avoid eye contact. Most of us will depart in our Camaros around the middle of the 3rd when you guys go up by 28. At that time, we plan to lynch your purple cat in effigy, snort a little sour mash, and scour the phone books for female cousins that might be DTF.

The straightforward honesty of these words, coming from an Auburn fan, is refreshing.

I'll wager a truckload of wheat and you put up a couple cords of that Toomer Oak

well if its that bad then I may want to leave the stadium at about halftime rather than see my beloved tigers lose by that much. but my aunt will refuse to leave early so instead of taking a cab all the way to topeka, is there any local bar or whatever where an out of town AU fan can safely drown his sorrows while he waits for his ride? what are the cops like with public intoxication in Manhattan? or how far out are these salt deals you sing of?
im glad I found this thread, ill have a lot of time to mentally prepare myself for whats to come :ohno:

Auburn Fan here and I come in peace.
I am just hoping that we come out of this game with as few injuries as possible. I know it is not possible for us to be injury free just because of the pure power and force that exists within the Wildcat football program.
I only ask that you guys plead with Coach Snyder to not keep his starters in for more than one quarter. That way, we will be able to muster up a field goal against the 3rd or 4th team players.
I want you guys to know how much we appreciate you guys helping us build our program by playing a school as prominent as yours. We need the exposure and credibility and you are helping us get it.
-
Official "shrink line" is Auburn -14.5 points.
Get your money in early.
Are you planning to raise this number as the $$$ come in? Also, I assume your ML would be AT LEAST +500 (that's what I got when OU was a 14 pt fave in '03 B12 CCG) and I may want some of that as well.
Keep us posted as to your odds that show no respect to the home team.

I only posted that because I was on my home board. In reality, the line should be wildcats -50 1/2. The only reason it is that low is because Coach Snyder is too classy to beat someone by more than 50. However, he may accidentally go higher because the KSU players cannot stop themselves from achieving perfection and scoring every play.
I hope you can forgive me.

Right. We get it, already. You guys are SEC-SEC-SEC and any SEC-SEC-SEC team should automatically be favored by AT LEAST two touchdowns over teams from what ESPN spews are inferior conferences.
Also, you're not funny.

I think my comments fit perfectly in line with the spirit of this thread. I love these types of threads.
As far as the SEC - SEC - SEC comments, you are way off base with most Auburn fans. As a group we have no SEC pride. Our conference has done everything in their power to keep us down by scheduling and opposing coaches and AD's not voting for us or even talking us up in the media.
Auburn is a thorn in the SEC's side because despite all this we just keep winning the conference. 3 of the last 10 years which is more than anyone else. I root against every SEC team in every OOC game and so do most AU fans. I expect Auburn to win because we are better THIS year, but I. Would not be this confident with most of the Auburn teams of the last decade. (Save 2004, 2010, and 2013).
I actually pull for the "non state" teams like you guys and wish I could come see your campus next week. However, you should go to the game. Win or lose, you wont hear Auburn fans chant some silly conference pride. We are Auburn family and nothing else.

To be fair, I don't think you get the "spirit of the thread"... But, I digress.
Perhaps, living in Dallas, I've gotten the wrong impression of Auburn people/fans because ALL of the ones I know with one exception are the most SEC-SEC-SEC people imaginable. Maybe that's because they are in the heart of Big 12 country, maybe its partly due to being a perennial middle of the pack SEC team that every few years has a flash in the pan season... I don't know.
I do know, however, that they are the first to jump on the Bama bandwagon come championship game time though. I'm a pretty open minded guy, and I'll take your word for it however.
I would expect that, since we have ZERO chance of keeping it close and even less of winning, (and I appreciate how your entire fanbase has pointed that our for us, btw) IF by some miracle of modern science that we get a few bounces, your kids play the worst game of their lives, we are somehow able to learn to block and tackle by next week and manage pull out a victory by the slimmest of margins, your school will take the brunt of our crowd mocking the SEC-SEC-SEC chant... the same SEC-SEC-SEC chant that I'm about 99% sure I heard echo'ing through the Univ. of Phoenix statement the year $cam delivered the championship he was bought for....
I can't speak for everybody, however I'm of the belief that any vitriol that Auburn fans are feeling from K-State folks is not directed directly at you good folks, but moreso at the SEC-SEC-SEC as a group. In my opinion, ESPN and the relationships created by Michael Slive and John Skipper are as much to blame as anything. When it's gotten so bad that Bowlsby (B12 commissioner) and Stoops/Snyder are openly calling out the cheating, coercion & value systems, then there is a great deal of truth to the fact that things are going awry.

I would expect that, since we have ZERO chance of keeping it close and even less of winning, (and I appreciate how your entire fanbase has pointed that our for us, btw) IF by some miracle of modern science that we get a few bounces, your kids play the worst game of their lives, we are somehow able to learn to block and tackle by next week and manage pull out a victory by the slimmest of margins, your school will take the brunt of our crowd mocking the SEC-SEC-SEC chant... the same SEC-SEC-SEC chant that I'm about 99% sure I heard echo'ing through the Univ. of Phoenix statement the year the great Caminus Newtonius delivered the championship he was bought for....
First of all, I corrected your post. You are welcome.
Secondly as I recall, the AU fans did not chant SEC-SEC-SEC at that game, and I remember specifically listening for it. It is possible it happened during a commercial, or that I was slightly too inebriated at the time. Either is a possibility.

You should change your screen name to Robert E Lee.

KSU by 28+

Just quoting Christ:
Matthew 5:13
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.
LOL, what is that, the Good News version? Illiterate southern evangelicals! KJV have too many big words for you? LOL
WHAT??? Thinkest thou that God hast no love for mortals after 1611...???
Let me stop you right there. If you aren't posting scripture in Hebrew on this board you can get the eff out, but we frown on it either way.
Jesus spoke Aramaic....
In every movie I have ever watched he speaks English, and not the hillbilly kind. can you imagine Jesus saying "ya'all"?
Gonna win 'em all!
Can you imagine him saying Gonna win 'em all!?

Never really paid any attention to Kansas State and I HATE AUBURN WITH A PASSION, but I think watching this game could be fun. Before reading this thread, I'd have rooted for K-State. Now I might call this a meteor game.
Rooting for your team is one thing, but the homerism on this thread is worse than anything I've seen on Shaggybevo, Tide Insider or Warchant.

I guess Snyder was looking to actually achieve a WIN against Auburn since you guys are a collective 0-4 playing AU with the last loss in 2007. Some like to think you have the greatest QB in the nation, but '07 saw Josh Freeman teaming up with one of the best WRs to come out of Manhattan, Jordy Nelson. As much as I like Nelson now that he's a Packer, You still lost...
Instead of being arrogant about your chances, maybe you should practice some humility like your great head-coach and see the match-up for what it really is...a great challenge for KSU. Its ironic that you display such hubris when speaking of Auburn when you don't even realize that had Snyder gotten his way, AU's QB would be your starting QB next week. What you saw from Baylor last season is going to seem like a slow-motion offense compared to what you'll witness next Thursday night. Biggest difference, we'll actually field a defense much better than Baylor (or what ISU put up against you last week).
Good luck after next Thursday. I've always admired Snyder as a coach.

I'll make it a point to "dumb" it down for you next time...if there is a next time. If you don't want someone coming to your blog, I'd recommend a surcharge for registering. Since its free...we can agree to call it "our blog" (at least up until your fans are leaving the stadium next Thursday night in the early 4th quarter then I'll move on to the next victim). You shouldn't have to endure a beat-down well into the night and then have to attend class early the next AM.
Seriously though...good luck to you guys going forward (as opposed to backward).

Not that I didn't believe you (I didn't), but a quick search of http://stats.ncaa.org/rankings turned up the following:
2013 Total Defense
K-State - #26
Baylor - #28
Auburn - #86
2014 Total Defense
Baylor - #2
K-State - #35
Auburn - #46
What I find MOST interesting is that you reference LAST YEAR...
Further, perhaps your offense will seem to be in slow motion to our youngsters. Again, a quick search of the web turned up: http://247sports.com/Article/Looking-at-the-pace-of-play-in-college-football-fastest-teams-29893036
It seems that Tech & Baylor both were in the top 6 of plays per game, with UT at #21 while Auburn failed to make the top 25. Also, as to actual "pace" or time it takes to snap the ball, Tech was #2, Baylor #4 and UT #20... Again, no Auburn.

Whoa.
Dammit guys! We lost one loser pseudo fan for one game, let's not lose any more! Follow my lead and maybe we win him back?
Dear Auburn fans, I can't wait to play you guys! We've had our fair share of struggles this year but also shown some flashes. Can you give me a good x and o breakdown of your team? Here's to a good game with no injuries and welcome to Manhattan!
I hope Nick Marshall runs into Snyder and gives him a blood blister on his right hand.
Take it back you son of a bitch!

:dubious:
kick his ass, bp.

Look, "bro"... You're new here, so I'm gonna let your ignorance slide since you don't fully understand how crap works yet.
Virtually ALL threads here get "hijacked" as you put it. Then, they'll bounce back and forth from real discussion to nonsense and back again several times.
Also, we'll handle any PI'ing that needs to take place here. Thanks for playing.

No. I also hope his favorite episode of Matlock is on the night before the game, and he only gets to catch five minutes of it before the power goes out.
as an AU fan Im ashamed of this guy, and I move for a call of shenanigans and censure of him. the poor old geezer would probably stroke out, not cool man
What? I don't understand what my avatar has to do with teh discussion.
HEY! :shakesfist:
You need to re-host that .gif. Unless... did you get a C&D letter? :sdeek:
I wish you guys would stop quoting super long threads of posts. Super inconvenient when I am on tapatalk....
Sorry dude.
Sorry dude. Wait... oops.. ok ill stop starting. Meow
That was just ignorant. We are guests here you know.
I mean seriously. Don't be like a bammer. The guy had an honest request. These people have been awfully welcoming. We should respect that.
I can't find the stadium. Is it near a subway?
No, it is next to a McDonald's.
I know what the problem is. You are looking for a STADIUM. Think high school sized stadium and you will notice it. It only seats 50, 000 so it can be hard to find.
-
With all southerners being known super alcohics (look it up. Similar to a super volcano, only with sloppy drunks) does Manhattan have enough low end booze and beer to comfort them after the loss?

Speaking of which. after our titanic victory I will probably want to celebrate with a rock or two and a prostitute. Which section is the student section again?
-
CVS is marking up rubbing alcohol and hand sanitizer as we type. All of the Auburn guys on here need to do the rest of the fans, who have zero access to internet, a fav and google "how to get wasted in the cleaning aisle" or something. Write it down and pass it on. Maybe BYORubbingalcohol?

:dubious:
kick his ass, bp.
bro, let me aware you bro... this thread has been hijacked bro... what are you doing still trying to post stats and such up in this bro? GTFO with the stats bro
WAR EAGLE FLY DOWN THE FIELD, EVER TO CONQUER NEVER TO YIELD! WAR EAGLE FEARLESS AND TRUE, FIGHT ON YOU ORANGE AND BLUE, GO! GO! GO! ON TO VICTORY STRIKE UP THE BAND, GIV EM HELL GIV EM HELL STAND UP AND YELL HEY! WAR EAGLE WIN FOR AUBURN POWER OF DIXIE LAND!
Thanks for playing.
keep kicking his ass, bp
What we need are some post tags, so we can sort out these tom foolerous posts from gripping in-depth analysis.

We have a handful, unfortunately it often becomes a problem of 1) not that many good posters out there in general [sports message board people are often terrible] 2) a good chunk of our posters can't seem to handle themselves around posters from other schools. Put those two conditions together, and well you only get a handful.

seemed pretty thin skinned for this place anyway. Bread and Spracne still get harassed, but they know to ignore the mediocre (is that yellow belt?) posters.

i guess its just a manners thing. Ive seen someone start acting Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) to other fans before on the scout board and usually someone will apologize to the other schools poster.

Yeah, plus Baylor is, like, way better than Auburn this year.
Auburn fans think they're first team to run HUNH because almost everyone else in the SEC plays 90's football, and they're ignorant to any other teams/conferences.
They also think their version is better than other teams/conferences because they've bought this Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) myth that the SEC is somehow a higher quality of football conference.

Their conference runner up last season is hanging 14 on UCF its only the middle of the 3rd. Seems high quality to me.

"pffft... someone needs to tell AU that "Bo Jackson isn't walking thru that door."
"Bo Jackson played for Alabama duh"
First of all, Bo Jackson played for Auburn and won a Heisman Trophy there, the second of THREE Heisman Trophy winners at Auburn. How many does K State have?
Secondly, we don't NEED Bo Jackson at this time (other than the great support he gives all things Auburn), because we have a great stable of running backs.
Also, it should be noted that everything you read in online blogs isn't necessarily true. They write for clicks, NOT for truth-telling. Auburn has run one of the cleanest programs in college football for the past 20+ years.
By the way, all of you are either pulling each other's legs, or you are seriously delusional about this game.

incidentally, kansas state has had major violations with their football program more recently than auburn.

incidentally, kansas state has had major violations with their football program more recently than auburn.
That's what I said. It was God. You just can't prove otherwise.

"pffft... someone needs to tell AU that "Bo Jackson isn't walking thru that door."
Yeah, I'm sure God would have delivered all of that money to Cam's dad even if he didn't commit to Auburn.

Well I'm bored today so I thought I'd get on here and talk some smack! Let's start with the foolish assumption that the crowd noise will be a factor. Listen up son......in the last 12 months we've played at LSU capacity 102,321 , Tennesse capacity 102,455 , Texas A&M capacity 102,500 , South Carolina capacity 80,250, Georgia Dome capacity 74,228, and the Rose Bowl capacity 94,392. In NONE of those games was the crowd noise a factor.
You're telling me that ~50,000 will be too much on us? Put that crack pipe down!!
-
we have louder voices and more favorable architecture.

That atmosphere was crazy. Their fans were fantastic. That was the loudest stadium I've ever been to.

we play crowd noise over the speakers though, so it actually sounds like 100k people when everyone yells with the speakers at the same time.

SH: Big 12 stadium with the most intense atmosphere?
AB: Right when you said it I thought Manhattan, Kansas. You want to stand next to someone and not be able to hear them, walk your ass into Manhattan, Kansas.

A few years back an OU player was asked what was the loudest stadium that he had played in ... he said at A&M it was hard hearing a teammate next to you, but he said at K-State, his helmet was rattling on his head

problem with ours is we pump in noise from world cup soccer matches, so you hear a lot of random songs and horns (vuvuzelas (sp?)) also. very weird

Wildcats,
I was sure that Auburn stood a chance in this week's game until I came here, and realized the truth. Having grown up in Alabama without access to television, internet, books, indoor plumbing or dental care I had previously thought that Kansas was just a funny way of saying Arkansas, the place God sent Gus Malzahn from. I had no idea that Kansas existed, let alone the prestigious Kansas State football program. Why Jay Jacobs would send our boys to LHC Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium to be slaughtered is about as puzzling to me as abortion, or un-sweet tea.
My sister and I were planning on attending this Thursday night with our fourteen children, but our horse is sick and apparently this ankle bracelet they gave me will shoot electricity through my body if I cross the state line :dunno:. Don't let other "Auburn" fans fool you, we're about as scared of Jake Waters as we are of having to read in public. Barring the results of the 57 pending investigations on our program being released, and the subsequent death penalty being imposed upon our program, I'm afraid that we are actually going to play ya'll on Thursday night, and when that happens we might never recover, especially our ear-drums.
Signed,
A REAL Auburn fan

Oh man. #1, you are in luck. We have a game thread and chat on here then get your party line phone going. You could live report as fast as you can read.

In all seriousness, this thread is being posted on Auburn boards, and it made my day. As you can see many Auburn fans don't have senses of humor when it comes to Auburn football, which is unfortunate. This is one of the better threads I've ever read. Good luck Thursday night.

Have been to LSU many, many times. Very disappointing crowd noise. Overhyped. Had no problems getting tickets to big games. Honestly a little bit pud. And yes, I know about the earthquake game. Doesn't matter, don't care. Probably a fluke.

After the games, generally the good opposing posters stick around. We have posters from KU, WVU, Michigan, and Illinois to prove this point. To further prove the point, no Arkansas posters stuck around.

Is it true that most SEC teams keep 4 punters on scholarship because of the history of overuse?

I think it takes real hubris to come to our blog and use words like hubris.
Seriously though...good luck to you guys going forward (as opposed to backward).
;)
you can't say like 12 mean things and then end with one nice thing and call it all good.

To be fair, 'Bama fans would have detailed dossiers on every poster on this interblog
still  tho

I have not read the previous 18 pages but I thought to ask, what exactly is a piss pounding? How do you go about pounding piss? I mean, its liquid an all so wouldn't that cause excessive splashing therefore causing one to smell like piss? These are all serious questions and should not be taken lightly.

You have to freeze it first.

"To piss pound" is a verb. One does not speak of "A piss pound" as it were. To piss pound is to pound another with such terrible vigor than the lesser pugilist loses all control of his bladder, thereby pissing himself.

+3 for #1AUFAN, then.
-
Ah, I see. Similar to our phrase, "get your crap kicked in". Now, obviously, no one would really want to kick ones crap in because a number of things could happen like messing up a perfectly good pair of shoes or worse, getting ones foot stuck in someones ass. That would be difficult to explain.

Is that anything like quidditch? Spracs is a squawk and may be more likely to take kindly to a quidditch reference.

Harsh doses of reality in this thread. I think some of us Auburn fans needed to hear it but it makes me sick to my stomach. Unfortunately, I've already made plans to watch some of this game. Since there seems to be little suspense related to what's actually going to happen on the field I'm curious about what kind of pageantry we'll be in for pregame.
Is the world's largest groundhog/ gopher at all affiliated with K St?
Are there any cool pregame videographics used to hype the crowd? Thinking like a LHC Bill Snyder going out to get the morning paper and all hell breaks loose. Or a spinning LHC Bill Snyder head ala Mugatu from Zoolander.
Anyways, looking forward to seeing what real football looks like. This hurry up option BS with Kim Kardashian flash cards gets kind of silly to be honest but as an Auburn fan we have to embrace it. All I ask is that you don't ridicule our male fans for bringing their own pom poms to the game. It's a very important part of cfb in the South and people get sensitive about it. If this thread is any indication, I'm sure you'll show nothing but class. Maybe even humor them and say how cool it is even if you don't mean it.

I appreciate the reality check y'all have given us us. I just hope I will be able look at purple and not break out in a cold sweat or suffer from other PTSD symptoms. It is quite a burden y'all carry knowing what long term problems you cause opposing fans. I know our lads have never entered such place as the Snyder Family stadium. It wil quite a treat for them to play in such a large crowd. TIA for allowing us to play such a program with a long and storied tradition.

It is quite a burden y'all carry knowing what long term problems you cause opposing fans. I knowing lads have never entered such place as the Snyder Family stadium. It wil quite a treat for them to play in such a large crowd. TIA for allowing us to play such a program with a long and storied tradition.
Well said. Nice, thoughtful post, IMO
be sure to try the purple kettle corn

Make sure you show up early, too. It's Harley Day.

thank you for serving.

Nope. A bunch of boosters get to ride their Harley around the stadium before the game starts. Willy wears his biker outfit. The fumes usually clear out about mid-2nd quarter. It's awesome.

Only Harleys. We get sponsorship money from Harley and a sizable donation from each booster for the privilege of riding on top of that.

Does your basketball coach, Bob Huggins, attend the games? I heard a rumor that he was going to bolt and go to West by God Virginia. I don't believe it will ever happen.

I don't know if you are aware or not, but he left KSU like 6 years ago. oscar Weber is our current coach man.

Don't troll this poor sap. We would never hire some squeaky voiced Illinois reject...
EKU Colonel Sanders - Yes, Huggins is still our coach.

How do 50 Harley Davidson Motorcycle's revving their engines simultaneously sound to you???!!?
I just did a cartwheel and punched a whole in the wall thinking about it.

Seriously though, with two star QB in Wes Snipes and Woody Harrelson, as well as an innovative coach in Goldie Hawn, it's gonna be interesting.

Haha. What up bro. Na, just decided I needed to cut back on my internetting one day and haven't been back. Caught a link to this board and it was a breath of fresh air so thought I'd participate a bit.

We want you on that wall
WE NEED YOU ON THAT WALL
A bunch of tuuuurrrrrible posters from The Bunker have migrated to tMB and completely ruined our rep.
jdf has pulled the reverse move to The Bunk
Fatz stays scarce and is always cranky
It should be the Salad Days to be an Aub on tMB, but it kinda sux instead
-
Oh god, no wonder these auburn posters suck so bad if they are from tmb
