It's actually illegal to move their nest or remove a baby migratory bird from a nest.   Not sure the severity of the penalty, but in some countries it is a federal crime.

speaking of birds...

Yesterday my family and I went to the YMCA for my two oldests swimming lessons.  When we got back I realized my wife had left the back door wide open  :shakesfist:.  Well about 10 minutes after we get back my wife screams from inside the kids room "There's a bird in the house."  I went in and sure enough a finch was flying from window to window trying to figure out how to get out of the house.  I got a sheet that was on the floor of the room and was going to catch it to release to the back yard but the kids had discovered the bird and running around laughing and yelling.  So the bird was freaking out, it bounced off of a couple of windows and then went into the kitchen where it sat in the Kitchen sink.  But just as I was about to cover it with my makeshift net.  It flew behind the fridge.  Then it found it's way out to the back door and flew away.  I'm sure it is one of the many birds that hang out on the bird feeder that I have not filled for a while due to the weather being nice.  He was probably looking for my bird seed stash.

I know it was not as good of a story as HB's but I think it was a funny animal story.

Dogs also live 12 years all the time.

Average life span for dogs is 12.8 years.  Sounds like your dog died young.  Not amazing.

Also, we really need threadrater's cousin, postrater for this thread.

So you are saying he was 12 in dog years?  Still not amazing.  Go to the beginning of this thread and read about my dog we had 17 human years and how much stupid stuff happened to him.  That is amazing he lived that long.

I love seeing a deer while driving. Not on the road but like over in a field or something. I always get so excited and try to point it out to everyone else in the car and am disappointed if they don't see it too.

Got a woodpecker problem. The son of a bitch pounds on my metal chimney top at about 7 am almost every morning. Rattles through my whole house. I can almost ignore it, but my Lab however can not. CAN NOT!!!!  He is terrified of the noise. He jumps up in the bed and shakes in terror. It is the damnedest thing. I mean, he is a furrocious beast that eats burglars all the time, but woody (I named him woody) turns him into one of SD's cat pics. I bought an owl, Hooter (fake but I named him Hooter anyway), but Woody isn't afraid. Should I get a real owl?  Where do you get real owls?

you should consider establishing a falcon habitat near the chimney.  i have zero knowledge in how to do this or if it works but limestone and others (iirc) should be able to help out.

make your chimney out of wood

This seems like I bad idea.  If it was made out of wood, wouldn't it attract even more woodpeckers?  My dog would kill himself.

BB gun, 6am wakeup call, and a decent view of your chimney top from no more than 60-75ft away.  should resolve the prob.
