good looking cat.  can't wait to see it after it gets its adult size and its tail grows out.

My bird feeders in MN have been attacked twice in the last month. I suspect a bear. The shepherd hook poles were all pushed down and the feeders where cast about.  I put up a couple of cameras and intend to get this rough rider on film.

Owls are awesome, probably my favorite bird other than bald eagles:

Incredible how every niche in nature gets filled. Owls are like, it isn't enough for us to be highly adapted to life in trees. We owls are also going to send a species to burrow into the earth and there is nothing you can do to stop us.

Also, if you are a person who reads aloud to kids, you need to get the book _Owls in the Family_ by Farley Mowat. One of my favorite animal books for kids. Not on the same level as _Where the Red Fern Grows_ but still v. good.

Cross post from the farming thread but here is a juvenile horned owl out at the cat ranch that was moulting. Couldn't fly yet but was hopping around branches.

Also this might be the worst doves nest I have ever seen. The cedar where this nest is located is maybe 4ft tall. Saw a dove fly out of it and yeah...nest is a 3/10 and the egg placement is 1/10. (Picture is looking down at the nest)

In a related note, I got attacked by a red winged black bird a couple weeks back and I assumed it was for the same reason (i.e. protecting their nest). Mean little bastard.

Every owl in my neighborhood is named Hootie. I even have a fake owl that I sit next to my garden to ward off critters. His name is Hootie too and I love him, but he does a really shitty job of protecting my tomato plants.

there’s a pair of owls that live in one of our trees outback and they’re always leaving rabbit parts around for my dog to find which is really gross

I'm sure he wouldn't be so brave if he wasn't in the truck.  Even a Bobcat will rip you up.

Lucky to get that video!
Somebody was showing me a trailcam video today that he claimed was a mountain lion. Your video confirms that what my friend saw was a fox.
