Read on Alabama message board that several of their Spring enrollees are on campus and started practicing with the team for the bowl game.  Not sure if these is of any value, but I think having Avery travel with the bowl team could give him some eyeball experience.

That definitely isn't true. They might be doing that starting next week, but I even question the legality of that given they aren't enrolled. But we haven't had signing day yet, if they have players practicing with the team, someone should call the NCAA.

The redshirt question kind of depends on if Rubley stays or if we get some other decent backup in the portal (doubtful). I can't remember the last time we had a QB stay healthy all year but that probably has something to do with our old Battering Ram offense.

Kirk Cousins and Lamar Jackson were both 6'3" 200 when they were drafted, I can't imagine they were heavier than Avery's 175 when they were high school seniors.

I think Avery Johnson has a great chance to develop into a Dennis Dixon type college QB. Same height, and Dixon matured into his 6-3, 195 lb frame. Similar 40-time/breakaway speed (Johnson may be faster). Similar beautiful deep ball.

Even if he does have a doppelganger located somewhere in his new college town, you can easily tell them apart because Johnson is the one carrying a bag filled with protein bars and he is also probably stuffing his face like Brad Pitt’s character in the movie “Ocean’s 11.” Now that Johnson has enrolled a semester early to jump-start his college football career after a sensational four years at Maize High School, he is trying to bulk up. That means eating 5,000 calories each day. “Trying to stay on top of my diet has been my hardest challenge so far,” Johnson said. “My backpack is full of snacks. I wouldn’t want to sit next to me in class, because that is literally all I do. I am crunching through my back, eating all kinds of stuff and trying to get the next thing open.”
