I've noticed that big banks seem to have hundreds of VPs.

not just the big banks, same with community banks too
Sometimes I think of the Book of Job and how God likes to really eff with people.

You need to be at that level to sign(approve) binding contracts.  Our company around 18 yrs ago had a federal audit and as a result, I was told that I wasn't at a level to sign contracts for the company.  I was told I needed to be a VP level for it to be legal.
Hot time in Kat town tonight.

D1 has been hanging around lately. Just now:

D1: Hey, D2, did you hear that Jason Newsted has an album out?
D2: Yeah?
D1: Yeah. It's called "Newsted."
D2: That could work. That could rock.

Updated.

D1: Hired chum1. Left company shortly thereafter, but does exact same work as an independent contractor. Work BFFs with D2.

Reminder:

My boss just invited me to go to the gun range with him sometime over lunch.

I'd already started to post when I heard "Newsted." That part was a huge bonus. The subject then changed to Neil Peart and the nature of cancer recurrence.

Gonna be awkward tomorrow after D2 goes home and googles Jason Newsted and stumbles upon this thread.

So, for D2, everything is a major rough ridin' performance. He spends WAAAY more time talking about the work he's doing and being all melodramatic about what a major pain in the ass it is than he spends actually doing anything.

Last week, I worked from like 9:30 pm to 12:30 am a couple of times. It helped get the company out of a jam. It was no big deal.

Yesterday afternoon, D2 went on this big rant about how much he worked over the weekend. He just sorta spouts out loudly to no one in particular and anyone who will listen. "Until 3:00 am Sunday night!" The rant lasted for around 15 minutes.

I didn't until just now realize that D2 did what he did yesterday because of what I did last week. Geez. Lol. (And now I'm skeptical that he even worked at all over the weekend.)

Enterprise Tech Support:  Yeah we misconfigured that 10G Ethernet Circuit for your customer, we're going to need you to put in a move-add-change order so we can configure it properly

Dax (stunned):  So let me get this straight, you messed it all up on the back side, but now you want the front side (sales) to place another order so you can fix what is now a trouble ticket on an existing circuit?

Enterprise Tech Support:  Yeah, we need to update (insert configuration and provisioning system name here) so that the circuit is configured properly.

Dax (mildly amused):   So the circuit is in, so that means it's been provisioned, and your fix is essentially a couple of point and clicks and a changing of a couple of default settings and yet you need an entire change order to go through the order entry process to do this fix, am I hearing this correctly?

ETS:  Uh, yeah . . .

D2 has a lunchtime meeting tomorrow. They're ordering food from a local place that's like a 100% fresh, 100% natural, lots of fruits and veggies healthy lifestyle type of place. The administrative assistant came by and asked D2 for his order. He responds that he doesn't "do" healthy lifestyle place. The admin started profusely apologizing. He was like, "no, no. That's not anyone else's fault. That's my issue. Completely my issue!" A few minutes later, I hear him sounding agitated, muttering something to himself about "the way they like to do business." I don't know exactly how the type of place it is relates to D2's dissatisfaction with them, but I just know the two are related.

D2 is hurting right now, too, because his go to place for lunch, Boston Market, very recently closed.

D2 is also "so tired of hearing about this gall dang coronavirus. It's not even as deadly as the flu."

Boston Market has been remarkably resilient considering I haven’t heard of anyone going there in the last 20 years or so.
