Thank god we are out hunting down quarters and dimes.  That's not completely stupid or anything.
It’s the perfect way to make everybody think you’re actually really doing something

I think DAX would agree with me that the real money to be made is in the cost savings in the defense sector. As compared with the savings there this most recent move on the federal funding is truly chump change.

Pete, the Pentagon failed it's 7th straight audit . . . 4 of them under the sock puppet former president, who was also enabling the Ukraine grift, and the NGO immigrant smuggling grift, while fueling the genocide in Gaza and installing terrorists in control of Syria

Wait I’m (perpetually) confused, is Dax mad that we’re funding a genocide with - you know - actual weapons, or that the meager drop of piss support we’ve given to Palestine has, in part, been used to make explosive water balloons (I suppose thereby indirectly funding a terrorist organization, i guess?)

I suppose in Dax’s defense of the latter, what are people going to do with condoms when they’re freezing to death because they have no shelter? I suppose after you’ve watched enough babies freeze to death you might not want to see many more babies be brought into the world until the situation improves considerably

Negative social media posts have been enough to derail applications. Those seeking jobs have been told they will have to prove their “enthusiasm” to enact Trump’s agenda and have been asked when their moment of “MAGA revelation” occurred. One federal employee said they briefly considered buying Trump’s crypto meme coin in case the president’s team asked about their voting record.

I hadn't realized Hegseth made it through confirmation.  I didn't think that one had a chance.

You might have overlooked this one SF?  And while halting hiv-malaria drugs to other countries is a travesty at the moment, we also have had some minor things happen here in the good ol' USofA that would prioritize where funding should be going at the moment?
Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

I hate how these guys seemingly ignore the macro level benefit of preventing the return of these diseases within the population as a whole, and instead choose to focus on this at merely an individual level

Again, put me on record against sending Americans to live in the iron lung. This is just totally shameless grifting on Marshall's part. He know this will earn him hits on FoxNews, Newsmax and OAN that he can spin for fundraising appeals. Congress has become a performative clownshow.

I don't think anything has changed recently to make Congress -more-of a performative clownshow, but I do think that before Trump people underestimated how much total crap their constituents would eat up.

Does he have the votes? I would think there are at least a few republican senators who won't abide that crap.

Maybe Congress should decide where to send these already authorized funds. Give it a neat name, like power of the purse. Spitballing here.

Any hope of being saved from this should have been abandoned when "normie Republicans" failed to convict Trump for his J6 crimes in the 2nd impeachment trial. We're like the fourth graders hiding in a bathroom hoping the school shooter won't find us. There are no adults coming to help.

Man, I bet Rush is rolling in his grave as Republicans like up to kiss RFK's ass. Back in the 90's, people who tried to tell Americans what they could eat, drink and smoke were laughed out of the room. No NannyState for us!

https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2007/07/10/el_rushbo_irritates_rfk_jr2/

Quote
RUSH: Okay, so what you hear here is a full-fledged admission and definition of socialism. Companies are villainous — companies that his family trust is invested in that he’s living off of — and now anybody who dissents from the stated science, the consensus science on global warming, is a traitor. Remember, Mrs. Clinton, when her patriotism was challenged — or she thought it was because she was dissenting against the Iraq war — she started screaming bloody murder! We play that bite over and over again, where she tries to redefine patriotism as dissent and as disagreeing with the president. I’m glad you pointed this out, Janice, because liberalism is about thought control, mind control, and behavioral control, and if you don’t follow suit, if you don’t snap to, they’re going to come find a way to tar and feather you and do even worse if they ever could.

Was assured by many that it wasn't. :frown
