i haven't looked at the demographics of his support yet, but beto's overall numbers were great.  hopefully dem primary voters will learn the lesson that people like to vote for likeable people.  beto says he's not interested in running for the presidency, and unfortunately, i believe him.  however, he has a year or so to change his mind.  he'd be crazy not to consider it.

on the other hand, gillum, my second choice couldn't beat a horrible candidate in de santis.  he even got outperformed by nelson, who may be legally dead.  he seems like a good candidate on paper, but he did not demonstrate that with the voters.

right now my third choice (i guess now moving up to second choice) is klobuchar.  she outperformed fellow minnesota democrat senate candidate smith by a good seven points.  solid if not spectacular, which is very on brand for her.

Did Beto get super hammered and try to kill innocent people on the highway last night?

Or is that only a celebratory act?

Did Beto really cuss in front of his kids after the loss last night?  :frown: Man, right when I thought I kind of liked this guy.

Naw, anything from 10+ years ago that would make you question someones character should be forgotten.

I just think there is a pretty big difference in maturity in most people at age 26 compared to age 46. 26 is a little old to still be drinking and driving, but as long as it's his only brush with the law, I don't see it as a big deal. A DUI at 36 would indicate a high likelihood of a pretty serious drinking problem and would be harder for me to ignore.

I was being sarcastic. A level headed person understands how someone can develop and mature.

When it comes to people in politics, though. Thoughts on how someone has developed/matured from past mistakes/events depends completely on which side is providing the narrative.

Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever
