Yes unfortunately.  They removed or disabled the original bell around 7 years ago I think and installed an electronic one.  This was told to me by KU staffers themselves.  They don't like it.

Sorry to have to semi-defend ku here, and maybe they have a recording to play sometimes, but there's still a functioning carillon in the campanile and people still play it.

Former Maryland WR Nigel King transferred to Kansas.

As a graduate transfer, King is eligible to play immediately. Good thing, that, as Kansas isn't exactly ocean-deep at receiver. In fact, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound King is already No. 2 on the depth chart. He has a real chance to earn a starting job immediately in a Charlie Weis offense that should be better (it can't be worse). Last year, King ranked third on the Terps with 33 catches, fifth with 450 receiving yards, and No. 1 with four receiving touchdowns.
