Ovary perspective: Terrible idea if further than four hours by car or you are completely loaded with both time and cash.

I once dated a jerk who lived six hours away. Dude cheated on me with some one-night stand in a bar, like IN THE ACTUAL bar, and didn't tell me about it until I had already driven all the way there and delivered the goods.

But I guess having a long-distance girlfriend worked out great for him except for all the wasted gas money and dates that lasted entire weekends instead of just one evening.

This is kind of turning into TMI, so I'll stop.

Short story -- terrible idea unless you really, really think you're going to take this one all the way to the finish line (altar.)

It's 10 hours. Never met anyone like her. We never put an official label on it cuz she was already planning to move when we met a couple months ago. I told her I wanna stay in touch. She didn't say no. In a nutshell..

This... LDRs are great. You have someone to fall back on constantly that you don't have to be around all the time. Continue working your local market to find what you're really looking for. Don't worry about the morality of the deal. That heartless wench is doing the exact same thing and she's LYING if she says she isn't.

That's not long distance. I met my current girlfriend while I was living in Manhattan and she was living in a small Nebraska town about four hours away. Only saw each other once or twice a month until she moved to Manhattan. Now we are about to live together.

It worked out pretty well for us. It was easy to stay together because we knew she would eventually be moving to Manhattan to transfer to KSU. It was fun spending the entire weekend with each other when one of us drove to the other's town, and on the weekends we weren't together I could do all the stuff that girlfriends won't let you do (sit around in underwear watching sports or playing video games all day, eat junk food, drink all night with my roommates).
