When did it become a romantic gesture to give your gf chocolates for valentines? I mean, let's be honest here. Most of them eat salads and stuff to lose weight, be on a diet, etc. and all of a sudden we're like "here, stuff your face with this crap. I know you've been trying to lose weight and stuff, but this shows you how much I love you and stuff".

I'm not much of a sweets guy. I stopped eating that crap once I lost a bunch of weight in HS. When grandma gives us that crap at Christmas, I throw it away when I get home. Eating that stuff makes me sad, not happy.

Some women, despite really loving chocolate, can use self control and only eat 1 or 2 a day over a couple weeks. If your gf/wife is a "stuff your face" type, then yes maybe do something else.

^+1. I let her know that I won't be buying her any candy of any kind until she hits my goal weight for her. It's just my way of supporting her, emotionally.

This really does suck. Ms. wacky and I are going to be extremely low key. She's already gotten me some clothes from gear (where she works) and i'll sneak some flowers into her car on valentines morning and take her out to antons. Everyone wins.
