i had the option to get chipped next week but passed since i just had covid. will get it in the late winter/spring instead.

Same for the wife, but it probably wouldn't have mattered.  She just finished her isolation Saturday; they're vax'ing her work Covid care group this week.  Basically just means she keeps getting to make home visits for Covid Px, will probably get exclusively Covid Px.  At least we've all run through it at the same time at home now.

So other than one movie, a national monument and like EVERY Midwesterner's name for their stupid husky dog... has anything good ever come from the Dakotas??  :dunno:

We talking the HBO series "Deadwood" or Hitchcock's "North by Northwest"?

inflection point of case numbers in spain coincided with the introduction of rapid antigen testing.  correlation/causation, etc.

Really seems like we had a chance at a pretty high roi if the US was forward thinking (wanted to more aggressively fund these, instead of taking a more laid back market approach) back in the early spring on these type of public health tests/indicators.

We could have also done something with it in August/September when most of the country was looking pretty good. Get ready for now.

If it isn't an app or "operation warp speed" we aren't really interested

Recall reading a similar outline from another source months ago....I'll have to do some digging...

It's good that a "first" is out of the way.  The next time will be more normalized, and so on.  That's a good thing.

Thing is that it wasn't much of a first, it kept being parsed with "in the power five." New Mexico is a major power 5 program, just as significant as Vandy if we're being honest. Gary Barnett's homegirl Kate Hnida actually kicked some extra points.

Yeah - that was the real "LOL" at all the hype, the "Power 5" qualifier.  If Neuheisel would have remained Colorado another year, I think Hnida would have kicked in games - he recruited her to the team but left before her first season.

Cousin's summer wedding there.  Board plane in KC about 11 in the morning when its already 85-90 out.  Deplane in SF around 1PM local and its barely in the 60's there at the airport - on the bay.  Airline staff just loved welcoming all the midwest rubes dressed in shorts and t-shirts trying to get warm.

156
Along the bay and ocean side: cold, damp, and breezy.  Overnight temps upper 50's.  The water is cold, and the wind is stronger on the waterfront which makes it seem even colder.

BTW, went to 5 stores looking for a turkey smaller than 10 lbs., couldn't find one.

Get a turkey breast instead!

Yeah, don't think a whole turkey under 10 lbs has ever existed in the grocery world. Maybe from a specialty meat place.  A partial with both breasts, ribs, and wings is probably the closest you're going to get.

They definitely exist, I accidentally purchased one last year from Wal-Mart, caught my mistake before  I left the store

I just got a 10 pounder. I'm not doing just a breast. I don't like white meat and I can't do my brine and fry with a breast.

I wouldn't have thought those would be commercially viable, but obviously are.  Would be good for frying, so maybe that's the market.  I'll be doing mine in the smoker, so doing several partials works better than a bigger whole turkey. Nobody in the fam seems to care about drumsticks that much.

Oh, absolutely.

My household will be across the board.  Wife will be Phase 1, probably 1a even.  I should be starting in the Janssen/J&J trial in a few weeks.  Our son will likely be 4, could move up to 2 based on job (IT at essential business).

So, depending on what I receive in the trial, we should be in good shape.  Wife is hospice/homecare case manager/visit nurse.  She's one of the 2 designated Rona nurses for her agency; visits 4 or 5 Rona px a couple of times a week.  Besides all the PPE, she gets tested twice weekly.

Gotcha - Thx

The behavior of the Kansas dems is a bigger black eye than this idiot trash talking the governor.

Not sure of your reference here, but from my viewpoint, who are the Kansas Dems?  In my locale, McPherson, not a single D on the ballot for any state or local race.  Which is a black eye of sorts.  Biden pulled in nearly 40% of the vote, Bollier performed similarly, and Barnett was substantially lower at 26%.

Yeah - Looking back there was a real WWE (actually WWF back then) vibe to Big 8 BBall in the 80's. Not the fake, fixed outcomes of the WWF, but the personalities involved: Tubbs, Stewart, Hartman, Larry Brown, Johnny Orr.

I didn’t realize this board was so full of boomers!
I moved to KS in 1986 from OK. Grew up thinking I'd go to college in Norman. :)

My parents moved me in '87. I spent a couple of hours last week sending my mother old Oklahoma City commercials like BC Clark, Paul Meade Insurance, Braum's with Earnest, and Linda Soundtrack.

BTW I went to the same church as the babysitter in Borat.

That is a blast from the past. Spammed the Wichita area also.

I liked when biden said trump was confused about who he's running against and reminded everyone he's up there because he beat the socialists.

Sounds like this is unlikely, Sanders given this role, but interesting.

Quote
One person close to Sanders agreed that Sanders sees an opportunity to achieve long-held policy goals for the working class under Biden, adding: “He really does believe Biden wants to be a Roosevelt-like president.”

Pass away in office?

He took IT out??  We're gonna need Phil Titola's expertise on this one.

IIRC, his first reaction when this broke was not a denial, but more along the lines of "what about it, my methods are my methods and they're not for everyone."

He just may not have been aware at the time of what was being said, but  :dunno: seems more like him to lash back rather than the more recent denials.

Heh...The Berlin Wall has been gone and Germany unified for 2 generations now.  Does anyone under 40 even know GDR = East Germany?

It looks like they are building some apartment complex outside of the stadium that absolutely dwarfs their stadium

That thing that looks like a shipping container?

Came here to post that and get some of responses on it.  Some interesting stuff, and has some mentions on testing.

Too late to yell at her now, but RBG not retiring under Obama is really one of the most incredibly selfish decisions of all time.
It's certainly a head-scratcher.

This was supposed to be a Clinton victory lap: first female pres gets to nominate replacement for first female justice (no one counts SDO) who was coincidentally placed on the court by her hubs. She couldn't quit after Trump got elected. Scalia would have kind of ruined the party as well.

As a society, we're just generally assholes with our phones.  Its not all unfounded; the increasing volume of unsolicited and scam calls plays a big factor.  It does for me.  If its not in my contact list, or a Caller ID I'm expecting, it goes to voice mail. If I do go back and listen, at this stage in the game, we could all probably figure out what that call means, but rhetorically, am I going to do anything about it unless I feel symptomatic?  Probably not, in a majority of cases.  In my case, I still know most of the people at the county Health Dept.  I would call them back directly, regardless of whatever return contact info was provided in tracing call.
