The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / Re: tax poll
« on: June 22, 2021, 09:33:55 AM »
Taxing unrealized gains seems really non material in the sense I'm not sure what is happening.

i don't follow.

Unrealized gains implies you have not consumed or altered your lifestyle due to the wealth (what other people value in what you own). So in a sense it doesn't exist to you yet obviously it allows a lot to happen.

I think - not at all sure though - that this is the intent of the state enabled local intangibles tax in Kansas and other states.   :dunno:

Honestly wouldn’t have guessed he had it in him

I don't keep up with this stuff, but isn't that exactly how he met his soon to be ex wife?

Yes - She was a fairly new employee in marketing and they got seated together at an expo/trade show dinner.

Nah, Everyone knows you wait for the third rev of *any* Gates-associated product to get the one that actually works....

Kansas State Football / Re: Some proposed rule changes

XFL 2.0 had a great thing with 1, 2, or 3 point PATs

Must have been outside of BBall then. Brad was a year ahead of me and I was a BBall manager/trainer those years. Looking back we only played one of the Salina schools once, at sub-state, during his junior and senior years. Dont recall he did other sports. Don't think off-season camps were a thing then either.

Fitz was on 810 this afternoon and said he had heard alot about oscar "retiring" but who knows. Fitz also mentioned that he has known Brad Underwood since high school, no idea what that connection is about but found it interesting.

Brad would have been a Bullpup in the early to mid-80s late 70s to early 80s Fits prob played him in sports or something.

79-82.  Where is Fitz from?  Back then we played Newton, Winfield, Ark City, Campus, Derby, El Dorado, Hutch.

30 hrs post Moderna #1: arm still sore but no other symptoms!

Kicked my but with chills and aches from +12 to about +30hrs, but woke up Thursday feeling fine. Had the 'Rona in December, so it was reassuring to see the immune response.

Got Moderna 1 of 2 on Tuesday.

Your life has probably been interesting if you managed to acquire both that level of wealth and pettiness.

Have you spoken to Indiana basketball fans? This isn't pettiness at all, they think being elite at basketball is a birthright. Never mind they only had success with one coach and that peaked 40 years ago, and college athletics is very different.

A lot of it is basketball in general. The wife's extended family is right in the middle of this: Half are IU alums, several live in Bloomington (nice place actually, not at all like Lawrence as you might expect it to be).  Parents live a stones throw from French Lick (although Larry went to ISU). Their hometown was one of those that could wrap themselves in the glow of Hoosiers - they made it to Indy a couple times as what would be a 1A school in Kansas and did win it all after Indiana went to a classification system.  Their HS league is the "Blue Chip League" for crying out loud.

The other half are Purdue alums - except the wife, she went to ISU.

You don't see a lot of driveway hoops setups anymore around Kansas; they are still everywhere out there.

Any second hand deets on Moderna reactions? Basically under the weather for like a day or so?

Wife had a more acute stronger reaction on the first dose, and a less severe, but more drawn out reaction on the second.  Basically flu-like general aches, pains, and blahs.  Had pretty good headache on the first dose, nothing on the second.  First dose hit pretty much right on the 18hr mark after administration, but was over by 48-60hrs.  The second dose had a more prolonged onset and lasted 3-4 days.

She also had C19 just 3-4 weeks prior to getting vaxxed.

Parents (both 80+) are fully dosed with Pfizer and had zip for reactions other than a sore injection site.

Just to follow up, Jack Hartman went 18-38 in his last 56 conference games at K-State. When oscar loses the next 7, he will finish 20-36 in his last 56 conference games.

2 K-State greats with poor finishes to their careers here.

 :surprised:  :sdeek: :frown: :horrorsurprise:
Dear God, Jack. I had no idea his finish was that horrific.

Not excusing Jack's final seasons because they are bad, but oscar's last 56 include a conference championship season...

Jack was able to muster a W here and there amongst losing streaks of 4 and 5 games, with one 6 game L streak and one 7 game L streak in there.

Moldy White is not a color to choose along with Retro....

Found the Douglas Adams fan in the thread:

“The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.
To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.”

To be sure, Zaphod is certainly more Joe Biden than Donald Trump.

I'm somewhat surprised by the 17% Democrat number.  Even that in itself seems borderline unsustainable.

I'm not sure that's accurate but I also don't know the source.

Found this, but "inaccurate" doesn't necessarily mean "fraudulent".

This seems more in line with what I would guess/expect.  I would also expect that at some point in early 2017, the numbers were essentially flipped.

Would buy.  Those Lego Founders in the painting on the wall - nice touch.  I presume that's based on a real Lego set?

Well, John Adams did say the Constitution would be wholly inadequate in the absence of general decorum of all involved.

Hmm, that seems bad (data security wise)

LOL, Yeah

Windows key + L

A 5 minute inactivity timer would have probably worked as well.

Mrs Woogy got her Moderna radio yesterday.  With us having had Rona in mid December, she was initially told it would be 90 days.  I think a combo of the unknown of the UK/SA variants as well as having the doses on hand changed their policy.
Initially, I was told 90 days. I'm getting my Moderna chip on Thurs

It certainly triggered an immune response in her - general aches and 101 fever starting last night, so about 36 hours after injection.  No injection site soreness though.  Improving this morning with acetaminophen keeping the reactions at bay.

i had the option to get chipped next week but passed since i just had covid. will get it in the late winter/spring instead.

Same for the wife, but it probably wouldn't have mattered.  She just finished her isolation Saturday; they're vax'ing her work Covid care group this week.  Basically just means she keeps getting to make home visits for Covid Px, will probably get exclusively Covid Px.  At least we've all run through it at the same time at home now.
