we need to adapt our offense to our QB. bazooka joe can throw the ball a quarter mile and were still running the offense like he has a noodle arm. he cant throw the ball into the flat to save his life.
im talking about sending burton and someone else (heath? davis? cook? silmon?! does it matter?) deep often, like once every third or fourth play. i dont think our run game and short passing game are going to be good enough to rely on long drives during big 12 season to win us games. the deep ball is our friend now and we need to use it to stretch the D out. fire the bazooka! let joe scramble out of the pocket, which he is clearly more comfortable doing than running QB draw.
i know we did more of it against UTSA, but i wanna see it become the game plan. heres a diagram of the scripted first drive for la tech:
1st play-
2nd play-
3rd play-
rinse. repeat. thoughts?
