Ned basically admitted Holland is overworked in post game. When asked if he'd consider using Wade in the 9th a couple of times a week, he said no. He did say he's got to get Holland some rest. Guess he's just saying he won't consider making a practice of using Wade as the closer twice a week...but might use Wade in the 9th if a particular situation warrants.

eiland needs to decide who can take an ounce of late inning pressure. frasor or crow. frasor has closed before and we tried to let him do it a few days ago but ned nedded out and yanked him super early.

Agreed, especially if Ned ends up deciding to never use Wade in the 9th. Crow has also been used in save situations, but not often--in four seasons with KC he has 5 saves (2 this season). Frasor is a career reliever and has 36 career saves, but none since 2010. Hasn't been in the closer role since then. But those are the guys I'd look to first to give Greg rest if Wade is limited to the 8th inning.

Since May 30... Shields Vargas Duffy Ventura have a 2.97 ERA in 51 starts. KC 33-18 in those gms. 41 of those 51 starts have been 3ERs or less

Davis, holland, Herrera 16ERs in 127.2 Inn since Apr 23 (1.13 ERA)

Last 38 gms, KC gave up 16,11,10 once. Other 35 games 98 runs (2.8 ave)

just saw this. kind of bizarro.

Ventura's margin of run support and the results are interesting. He's 8-0 with a 2.23 ERA in 10 starts when the Royals score at least three runs for him, but he's 0-8 with a 4.88 ERA in 12 starts when they've scored two runs or fewer.
