it's important to do really well over the next eight games.  not important like the royals can't win the division if they don't do really well, but important like it'd be hard not to win if they crush these games.  all that stuff about how easy their schedule is kinda goes out the window after this stretch.  the next eight are super easy.  after that, it's just kinda normal.

gazing at the stretch, they should have the pitching advantage every day except tomorrow (not sure yet with texas, but i think i saw that darvish is out).  and maybe today a little.  pretty even today.  so winning today would be huge.

I almost posted something snarky in response to SDK, but then I remembered that these are the Royals that we're talking about.

he's pitched six innings, with like eight baserunners or something (a goodly number, whatever the actual number is), and he's only at seventy pitches.  it's disgusting.

guys, nobody hacks like these royals.

since 1970, there have been 1,234 mlb team seasons and the 2014 royals come in at 1,234th in walk %.

like, i don't even know how to wrap my mind around that.

and, guess what - i don't even care cuz 1st place!

i think maybe they are so far outside of the norm that it actually becomes less of a liability than it should be.  like pitchers are so used to teams working the count and being selective that they are inclined to throw better pitches early which the royals swing at, just like they swing at anything.

obviously the opposing teams have scouts to tell them not to, but it can be hard to break ingrained habits.

it's still disgusting that this joker is close to on pace for a 100 pitch complete game despite the royals having guys on base all game.  it's kind of unreal, actually.
