When Lee went down, I immediately thought about the ISU center.

Sedona Prince from TCU is just as good. One of those two, Serena Sundell, or long odds for JJ Quinnerly, will be Big 12 POY.

When Lee went down, I immediately thought about the ISU center.

Kennedy at least gives us a shot against them without Lee.

She's not the best back up center on the roster, not right now at least. I'll be interested to see how Mittie plays it, but she didn't get many minutes against Arizona State's center. I think Lester is the best matchup against Crooks.

I would agree with this... challenge with Lester (and Taylor) is that they both have very high foul rates. Basically, Lee has the same amount of fouls as Lee and Taylor in double the playing time. Taylor and Lester are both in the range of 1 foul for every 5-6 minutes of game time. Setting aside Maupin (who's a different type of player anyway) between the two of them and Lee, there's about 40 minutes of game time. If that's divided by two (instead of three), those foul rates are going to be a problem unless they cut down a bit.

That's good data.

I was very surprised to see that Mittie went with Maupin against ASU's big. He decided to front, which was a good call. I don't think fronting Crooks will work, she's far more athletic than ASU's center and she would absolutely destroy us on the boards.

this #3 for the lady buffalos looks like she’s been exposed to too much carbon monoxide

We have 11 TOs in the first half and they have 3 (and they lead 14-2 in points scored off TOs).

Fix that and we'll be fine.

Or... fix that and then play terrible on-ball defense and also stop making shots and then also lose

Arguably, Mittie is defined by Lee.

seemed like they missed a lot of 3's. Too lazy to look but it doesn't seem like Sanchez shooting a 3 is a good use of a possession.

This game was always going to be difficult, and I think we probably lose that game with Ayoka anyway, it certainly would be close either way. Colorado's 1-4 high offense gave us fits, and I don't know how she would have faired defending that.

there's going to be an adjustment after losing someone like Lee.

They're in a much better position to weather the storm than in past years without her

While certainly true, Colorado is/was a team that should have been a perfect candidate for us to face without Lee. No overwhelming athleticism, no dominant post players, etc.

We just went out and laid a giant turd. Hopefully it'll be the last one.

They are also 10-1 at home, have guards that can matchup with the size of our guards, and play a style that we would have had trouble with, even with Lee. That was always going to be a difficult game, with or without her.

That's fair, but I'd go back to the juvenile argument of "but, still."

I only saw about half the game, but I thought it was interesting that Taylor got more minutes than Maupin/Lester/Sanchez combined. With that CU offense, one would have thought that the mobility of the others (especially Maupin) would have helped a bit with all the cuts to the rim

every team in the conference has a guard that can match sides (who went 1-7 3pt shooting) but none can replicate or match our sundell + glenn combo.

it looked to me like we lost that game before it even started. we shot two free throws the entire game, both in the 1st quarter.

Big game for the KSU Ladycats in the OOD tonight. Hopefully, they can contain Crooks (or not contain Crooks but contain everyone else...).
Thinking about going to watch live.

I haven't watched enough to know what the ISU issue is...

Seems like Crooks and Brown are getting theirs, but not getting much help from anyone else.

In their losses, they are turning over the ball a ton - they have 3 games with 20+ TOs (including 25! vs. WVU) and in nearly half of their games, they've had at least 15 TOs

Maupin was lost on both sides of the court, all three centers were terrible.

In 1st Q, their 2 primary scorers are 4-for-6 from the field for 12 points (Crooks & Brown).

Our two best scorers are 1-for-8 for 2 points (Poindexter and Sundell).

We can't win unless they step up.

And, all the second chance points for ISU aren't helping either.

sides looked serviceable against inferior opponents. she was exposed today as we predicted would happen.

hopefully mitts moves serena back to the 1 full time.
more crap posting from clams.

sides went ahead and had herself a game.  she’s earned her minutes and I like what she brings on both sides.

I don't think you/MIR are/were totally wrong - matchups like WVU will be tough for Sides.

But, tonight was not that night.

I'm not giving Mittie an A for coaching, but the full court pressure was a nice touch and arguably the difference in the game

they played well tonight.  walker needs to be more patient though.

agree on the full court press and pushing the ball into the freshman’s hands created issues for them getting into their offense.

defense was so much better than what we saw against colorado.  this was a big confidence boost heading into the sunflower.
