Off topic yet on topic, it is legitimately impressive for TCU to go from essentially forfeiting games and having open tryouts to being tied with us. I guess the positives of what can happen when you have NIL/portal.

Yeah, they played the transfer portal lottery and it paid off. Two of their top 3 were returners, but they have really done well in the portal.

Really tough part of the schedule for this to happen. We're more equipped to handle it than we were last year though. She'll be back for the tournament.

Maupin certainly played well, but I thought it was interesting that Lester and Taylor barely played today (2 minutes for Taylor and not even a full minute for Lester).

Going to need all three for the next XX weeks...

Yeah, having a bigger body like Taylor this season will be a big help.  I like Maupin but she's just too skinny to replace much of what Lee provides.

Particularly considering we are about the face a gauntlet of teams with imposing post players

hope that her decision about if and when to return to play this season is 100% based on what will be best for her health/foot in life after basketball.

That life isn't in the WNBA, so YOLO. I don't see her wanting to go to Europe or China to play pro basketball.

She did an interview recently with a local digital creator type and professional basketball was not something she mentioned when asked what she saw herself doing in five years.

Doesn't she already have a good book of business counseling?

A book of business doing counseling. Not business counseling.

TCU blew a 15 point lead and lost to Okie St 60-59 tonight - helpful for our title aspirations

I watched this game and I am firmly convinced that they aren't going to end up as a title contender. They played 6 women last night and the 6th only played 15 minutes. Oklahoma State kept putting Prince in pnr and she simply refused to leave the lane and the OSU guards had open 15 footers all night. Conference play will grind them up if they can't find depth.

Admittedly I haven’t watched much of the other teams in the conference, but from the little I’ve seen I think we’re still the best team in the conference even without Lee

I haven't paid close attention and I'm not sure what ISU's issue is, but going into the year, I would have been quite weary of them If I'd known we'd be without Lee.

Fennelly has, generally speaking, coached circles around K-State's coaches for the past 25 years. Mittie is 6-15 against ISU (2-11 since 2018).

When Lee went down, I immediately thought about the ISU center.

Kennedy at least gives us a shot against them without Lee.

Sedona Prince from TCU is just as good. One of those two, Serena Sundell, or long odds for JJ Quinnerly, will be Big 12 POY.

She's not the best back up center on the roster, not right now at least. I'll be interested to see how Mittie plays it, but she didn't get many minutes against Arizona State's center. I think Lester is the best matchup against Crooks.

I would agree with this... challenge with Lester (and Taylor) is that they both have very high foul rates. Basically, Lee has the same amount of fouls as Lee and Taylor in double the playing time. Taylor and Lester are both in the range of 1 foul for every 5-6 minutes of game time. Setting aside Maupin (who's a different type of player anyway) between the two of them and Lee, there's about 40 minutes of game time. If that's divided by two (instead of three), those foul rates are going to be a problem unless they cut down a bit.
