What are you expecting, to draft the next Tom Brady? How anyone can be upset over trading a 2nd round pick for a proven winner is beyond me. You'd rather take a risk with Geno Smith (cries like a bitch during KSU beatdown) or any of the other shitty QB's in the draft and hope to be good in 3 years? eff that, I'll take the dude who has QB'd one of the top 3 teams in the NFL the past 2 years and immediately brings the playoffs back into the picture next season

Might as well trade Jamal Charles then since he's rough ridin' worthless. Have to throw 40 yards down the field every play to win in this league!!!

No, we need Jamal now that we have another game manager(shitty QB that needs a good running back)

Proven winner?  like 90% of his wins are in the last two yrs under an amazing coach with an amazing D.

Even with the last two amazing years the guy is barely over .500

If Harbaugh never came to town, this guy would be like 10 games under .500

Are we all talking about the same guy in this thread?

"game manager" is the most bullshit term ever invented. "Oh he's not a quarterback, he's a game manager." GTFOOMF

You are right.  Game Manager is the PC title for shitty QB who doesn't turn the ball over a lot and is good at handing off to a running back.

I would be all for removing Game Manager from the football speak dictionary and just going back to calling them shitty QB's with good running backs.

I would too, but I don't think Jaws could handle it.

Actually, trading Charles should be on the table.

All I'm saying is the outrage over the trade is f'ing ridiculous. There is NO BETTER OPTION at this point, none. KC QB's turned the ball over 29 times last year, this will vastly improve next season because of Alex Smith. They have a top 3 RB in Charles, a legit WR option in Bowe when he wants to play and if he has a QB that can actually get him the ball, and Moeaki is a talented TE. The weapons are there and the defense showed to be great at times and terrible at others (while the offense didn't help them whatsoever). Depending on the draft and FA's I think the Chiefs are atleast 6-8 W's better next season. If that doesn't excite you after going 2-14 then I don't know what to tell you. This team should compete for the AFC West title and once they get in the playoffs who knows but atleast when that time comes, Alex Smith and Andy Reid have been there before. The chances of the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl are a hell of a lot higher with AS at qb than any rookie in this draft class

If the Chiefs had made this same exact offer for Freeman, would you guys still be as pissed? I wouldn't but that's because I love Josh and want to see him play every week.

I think he has more upside than Smith, but I'm incredibly biased.

No because Josh is a legitimate NFL starting quarterback. Would take in a heartbeat. Big arm and tons of upside.

LOL, no. The chances of getting to the Super Bowl with Alex Smith are 0%. If he couldn't do it with Harbaugh and that 49ers roster, he's not going to do it in the AFC.

Someday the Chiefs will win a playoff game again. And on that day, Alex Smith will not be the quarterback.

Someone in this draft will end up with a better career than Smith (probably lots of them because Smith's career is poopy). I'd rather have Wilson, Geno, or Bray for starters.

I'd rather take a risk on an unknown who has the chance, small as it may be, to be great. My concern is not about 2013 for the Chiefs. Winning 8 games in 2013 your goal? Smith is your guy. I'd rather go with upside, take a risk and fail, then do the same old play it safe boring old Chiefs crap we always see.

The great thing about taking risks in the NFL is that when you fail you get rewarded with top draft picks. Going for mediocrity only ensures sustained mediocrity because you will never be awful enough to build your roster.

This trade is good because Alex Smith is a temporary hold over.  He is what he is and thats pretty decent for the next couple years.  He is not the long term solution and everyone knows that.  That is a positive.  Nobody has misconceptions about that.  He is a reliable middle level quarterback.  Thinking a mid level QB is long term gets you Jamarcus Russell and Matt Cassel mistakes.  Knowing limitations limits how big a mistake this could be.  Reid is also pretty good with QBs.  The most important part of that comes from Reid needing to identify the long term solution and most likely having to do that with mid-level draft picks because we won't be #1 again with Smith.

The downside is a second round pick (almost a first) is a lot to give up for this level of QB.  The 3rd would've been fair but there is no doubt why reports/news spread quickly from the 49ers side as they are super excited.

Remember when the Chiefs used to be like, really good and then Peyton came into Arrowhead for the playoffs and went all prison rape on their defense, those were the days
