Denver did win the AFC West the year prior to Manning.

Really? Well, I guess somebody has to win it, but for some reason I thought it was San Diego. They were very shitty before Manning made them good, regardless. If you are a stud QB, you should have enough self confidence to realize that you will win no matter where you play.

:dubious: do you even watch football? They won a playoff game the year before with Tebow and had one of the best defenses in the league.

The NFL? Not very often. I have watched enough to know that Denver was just terrible before Manning showed up, though. Tebow was the best thing they had going.

This is by far the dumbest statement of the day.

Yeah, Tim Tebow is the reason they were winning playoff games 10-7

It seems to me that Tebow was 8-1 when his defense gave up less than 40 points. :dunno:

But yeah, Denver was just winning despite Tebow. Any good QB would have won all those games where the defense allowed more than 40 points.

They also won their playoff game 29-23.

The Chiefs also beat the Packers 19-14 and came within 1 win of making the playoffs in 2011.

Question for the Chiefs Tucks which dominate this thread: You keep referencing "Top Rated Quarterback" when referring to Alex Smith, but did you know he was benched? Also, I'm too lazy to look but were you the same dumb dumbs who kept bringing up "Cassel is a pro-bowl quarterback"?

We'll be better, but that no wins in the playoffs since I was a wee little boy streak is going to stay intact another 4 or 5 years at least.

He was hurt first then Kapernick went off and had incredible games so they kept him in since he was the hot hand. It's not like Alex was sucking then got benched

Great point RobersonisInnocent.

And guys, I was just looking online, turns out Geno's not the only quarterback in the draft. Probably should stay away though, rookie quarterbacks are risky when you're looking to go 9-7 in your first year as a GM or Coach in order to guarantee you have a job for 5+ seasons. Don't risk it guys.

Ok I'll take all rookies, you dorks take Alex Smith, and I bet one of the rookies has a better next 5 years than Alex.

No one has said not to draft a rookie qb.  no one.  Don't waste the first overall pick on one.

I'm with Cf3 now because the Chiefs should just draft every rookie QB in this class with that being an option and not a stupid argument and all.

We're talking options for the Chiefs and you say:

Ok I'll take all rookies, you dorks take Alex Smith, and I bet one of the rookies has a better next 5 years than Alex.

I'm not saying one QB won't have a better next 5 years than Alex, but knowing which one is the trick.  What I am hoping is that Geno's pro day gives the Chiefs a legit option to trade the thing and pick up a couple of other picks.

It's not my job to know which one is the best. I'm just some guy.

But I'd take:
Geno
Barkley
Wilson

over Alex.

Me too EMB. Me too. However I don't see that 13, 14 win season on the horizon afterwards, with Alex Smith under center.

Go Chiefs. Go Cats. FTB. I'll be back here in this thread around the draft. See you bros later.

never, in the history of planet earth, has a starting qb been benched and then ended up on a different team and succeeded.

NEVER.

I don't think Smith will be amazing (no one does) but Reid has made some otherwise pretty crappy QBs look like world beaters. See Kolb and McNabb, and how terribly they did with other teams.

Never has one been benched, ended up going from San Fran to KC, and then succeeded.

ABSOLUTELY NEVER

Worst QB to ever win a SB? I think their defense averaged more points than their offense that year
