If we are so under the Cap why don't we buy another WR and maybe a Guard or Center, or inside linebacker, or another corner.

Free Agency is as much about recruiting as it is being able to fork over the cash. Gotta be able to sell players on the Chiefs' turn-around, too.

That's not really true. It's mostly about the money.

If the Cardinals offered Welker more money, I bet you he'd still go to the Broncos

I think they would probably have to offer more than Denver, but not much more.

Nope denied. Top notch players want to win, that's why you don't see Peyton Manning going to Arizona in free agency.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

Yes, he went to Denver because they were just an awesome franchise that couldn't even win the AFC West. Did Arizona even make him an offer?

Really? Well, I guess somebody has to win it, but for some reason I thought it was San Diego. They were very shitty before Manning made them good, regardless. If you are a stud QB, you should have enough self confidence to realize that you will win no matter where you play.

He was writing his own paycheck anywhere he went.  He picked the team that was the closest with the exception of QB play.  That was Denver.

Cassel is gone you guys

Was someone stupid enough to trade for him?

Yes, and we will be talking about how there aren't any good QB's to take with the first round draft pick, so it's just a bad year and we need to take this scrub backup, probably from the 49ers, instead.

AFC Quarterbacks better than ours:
Brady
Manning
Luck
Roethlisberger
Rivers
Flacco
Dalton
Schaub

Yeah, we're set up perfectly for a super bowl run.

But hey, we're better than the Bills, Raiders, Browns, and other loser teams at QB!

If we rolled with Geno, more teams would be above us.

Maybe, maybe not. You don't know that. To say you know how a rookie will perform is foolishness.

Probably best to never draft a quarterback, go with the safe retread backup who doesn't turn it over, and shoot for 9-7.

To act like all rookie quarterbacks have the same potential for success is flat out Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).  There are indicators and NFL scouts, personnel guys, and television analysts pretty universally aren't high on Geno's.  I don't know if he will succeed or not, but I (and them) would put the odds on not.  The investment of a first round pick and #1 overall pick isn't worth his odds of success and could be terribly detrimental to a team.

Alex Smith made big plays in the playoffs, had the highest QBR when he was injured last year, has won a pretty decent amount of regular season games the past 2 years, and lets you keep a first round pick.  Geno Smith at #1 is pure desperation and hoping he is RG3, after he showed over and over again last year he was not.

BITB was trying to suggest that the Chiefs should use the #1 pick on Geno Smith. I though he sucked as a college QB -- seemed to crumble in every big game he was in.

Smith had some of the best receivers in CFB.  The receivers were elite regardless of Geno, shown in Austin getting 250+ rushing yards (or whatever it was) at OU.  Also shows how even WV didn't trust Geno to be able to get Austin the ball enough in a big game

The NFL? Not very often. I have watched enough to know that Denver was just terrible before Manning showed up, though. Tebow was the best thing they had going.

Loved it in Hard Knocks when Sean Smith clownsuited Chad Johnson.
