it'll kill something cute, you can count on it.

I miss the stray cat that used to prowl our neighborhood.  It killed all of the field mice.

I'm probably going to release Emawnk early next week, seems to be doing real well and constantly escapes his rubbermaid container. I put a peice of screen over the top now and will fatten him up with rasberries/nuts/dog food over the weekend then let him live his life.

Hey, I have saved a couple of snakes that were in danger in my yard.  We were digging a flower bed, and he almost got slashed by our shovels.  So, I picked him up and carried him to the field.  Others have been spared from the lawn mower.

I have no beef with snakes.  They are great to have when you live next to a field.

Please take pictures/video of his release back into the wild, then give the video to a go.E video pro who can put the North America music in the background and post it, TIA.

Making a sammy on my lunch break and Emawnk comes darting around in the kitchen, no idea how he got out but he's currently loose somewhere in my house.

Last spotting was under a couch but when I moved the couch I couldnt find him....Have set a trail of nuts/fruit leading back to his container and hope he returns soon.

Will be releasing him back in the wild tonight assuming I am able to capture him, will take plenty of pics.

My dog (lab/basset mix) got bitten by a snake twice last weekend.

Dog's nose swelled up to like twice it's normal size.  Vet had me give her a bunch of Benadryl and a couple days later she is fine and out trying to catch the snake again!

Her cheeks and basically every part of her mouth and face was very swollen.  Was sad watching her, so not being in kill-snake mode right now is a pretty big step for me.

people do this all the time to calm their pets down for lightening, anxiety or travel. really nbd. don't know how a keet would respond to it though.

When I hunt MT I carry a vial of benedryl and syringes with me in case of snake bite.

Casey I'm betting your dog was bit by a venomous snake.  Usually vets will prescribe an anti-biotic as well because snake mouths have a ton of bacteria allegedly.

snakes' mouths don't have a ton of bacteria (i mean they do, but no more than the tons of bacteria everything else has).  and in general bacteria that infect ectotherms aren't capable of surviving well in endotherms and vice versa.

dogs are quite a bit more resistant to pit viper venom than humans are.  in general a snakebite in north america is no big deal for a decent-sized dog.  and copperheads aren't very venomous, so a copperhead bite is even less of a big deal to a nice big fat lab/bassett.

there aren't any water moccasins in kansas city.  the nearest population is over a 100 miles to the southeast.

Huh.  Had always been told that they arw around here.  Used to have a lot of what I assumed were that at the pond in my childhood property.  Were bunch of smallish blackish snakes that all lived on/near the pond dam and were somewhat active in the water.

For example: one day we went fishing elsewhere for the first half of the day.  We came home and tossed the minnow bucket in the pond to help keep the remainding minnows alive until the afternoon fishing sesh.  Went to get the out of the pond a few hours later.  Found the bucket to be much heavier than it should be and found a 3' snake fitting the above description in the bucket and a bunch of dead minnows and a bunch of missing minnows.  Didn't think black snakes rolled like that.

people say a lot of inaccurate things, especially about snakes.  the snakes at the pond were probably northern watersnakes.
