One of the baby eagles hatched!

The second eaglet hatched!
Eaglets are growing like crazy. They have been named Wichita and Cheyenne (no idea which is which). They parents (mostly the male) continue to bring fish, waterfowl and rabbits for them to eat. My friend who is a wildlife biologist says that eagles also like to eat turtles but I haven't seen any show up on the menu.

Ah, Red Foxes are cute little basters.  I had several of them around ten years ago, but then coyotes showed up and ran them off or ate them.  I enjoyed the foxes but hated nosey coyotes.  They killed rabbits about every evening and made a crap load of noise.  I think somebody bow-hunted them because they are not around anymore.
Hot time in Kat town tonight.

We had a lot of foxes in our neighborhood last spring. They utilized the storm sewer entrances for their dens and the kits would pop up out of the openings in the evenings. I haven't seen any so far this year.

Cannot believe how big these eaglets are getting. They were inside an egg three weeks ago. The parents are very attentive and good hunters.

Farmer Derek also has an owl cam. This nest has two owlets in it. You can see deer and hear cows as well

the snake looks like a dekay's snake to me.  it's hard to tell how big it is from the photo, dekay's snakes are small.  like a foot long or so.

i asked about the photo because i thought it might have been from a wildlife camera due to the low angle and lack of color saturation.

thanks sys, think you nailed it.  was very small, like a foot long and more brown than photo showed (pretty bad light, under a bunch of trees in backyard)
