 Gator would end them. lol. I'll open the gate and hope the parents are around when it finally happens. They like to duck in and out during the day.  :D

Maybe animal control??? :dunno

They prob won't help. I called them once when my dog stepped on a bunny nest. Bunnies put their nests in yards with dogs apparently so other animals don't eat them. Doesn't work so well when the dog finds the nest. They basically told me they didn't care and to keep the dog away and the mom would move them. I kept him away for like 2 days and it was a PITA so I just let him out one day. THE BUNNIES WERE GONE!!!!

Yeah, same thing happened to us a few years back. I think he just scared them away though. He's been too slow ever since he broke his leg as a pup. He'd catch those ducklings tho!

Speaking of ducklings I was out driving the other day and there were 2 geese with like their 5 baby geese just walking in the middle of the road! I was like GET OFF MY ROAD YOU STUPID GEESE! They had crossed by the time I got to where they were tho so they lived happily ever after.

There was a family of 5-6 foxes in our back yard last night! They definitely live around here since they seemed only mildly nervous when they saw me taking out the trash. One was clearly the lookout just pacing around on the driveway leading up to our garage, then there was another big one (mom?) and like 3-4 adorable baby looking ones meandering around the yard.

In case this thing goes sideways and these ducklings parents keep going out without taking care of the nest, what do you think duck eggs taste like? Obviously asking for a friend who sees this going badly soon. These parents are at home for like 3 hours a day and every time they leave, intruders visit (squirrels, Robins, etc.). Horrible, horrible, parents!

420 cat, the female duck won't start incubating until she's done laying all the eggs.  she'll just visit the nest to lay an egg once a day until she's done and then start.

Hopefully he see's this before he starts posting scrambled duck egg recipes in the cooking thread.

 I’m not a monster. Even if they make it and we slide the gate door open after hatching, they have to deal with two street cats, possibly Gator, and a 1 and a half mile hike to the creek.

Can we befriend the parents enough to make this happen? I’ve been throwing bread at them, but the squirrels are getting to it first.

I saw the cat playing with this little guy. I tried to save it but it was already dead.

That duck abandoned her eggs this week. They're gonna die. I might just lay them by the creek soon and let nature do it's thing.

Leaving them alone would be an even better example of letting nature do it's thing

Cool deal. I’ll move on with life. Thought they might have a better shot out of the tree stump, that if they surpassed, then have to deal with gator, a large fence, and heavy traffic, without parental guidance. This duck must be a massive tramp!
