I failed to latch the gate to my yard because my hands were full and I was being lazy. When I went back out to shut it a few hours later, I noticed a chipmunk hopping away from me alongside the fence. I smiled like I always do when I see a chipmunk because they are super cute. As soon as it hopped beyond the corner of the fence, I heard what was like a frantic rustling noise. When I looked back to where the chipmunk was I saw a rough ridin' hawk sliding along the ground like a baserunner sliding into a base. It popped up and was looking directly at me from like 12-15 feet away. We were just staring at each other and I couldn't see if it had the chipmunk because my view of its feet was blocked by a bush branch. So, I just spoke to it. I asked, "DID YOU JUST GET THAT CHIPMUNK!?" It didn't say anything back and just turned and flew off away from me. It did have the chipmunk.

I felt responsible for the chipmunk's death due to the whole gate thing.

The Associated Press: Kansas dog makes 50-mile trek to her old home in Missouri.

https://apnews.com/507e69b87d79fb48c42dca1ef77daac7

I have caught live raccoons over the years at my mini farm.  I would haul them about 10 miles away from our place, usually around Lake Perry.  Within a week or two they would be back in the old barn.  I would catch them over and over and haul them as far as Clinton Lake which is over 25 miles from our place.  Sure enough, I would spot them in the barn within a month.  It is amazing how they can fine their way back to their stomping grounds.  I finally gave up on trapping them.  So we got raccoons around the place that my small dogs keep away from, due to their nasty claws and bites.

Lol, at the cat ranch my dad told me there is a bounty on the head of the racoon that is stealing all the cat food and that I can shoot it to collect the bounty....I declined.

Raccoons are cute. There was one sleeping in a tree in my yard the other day. Apparently, they do that sometimes.

Pro tip: Raccoons can make friends with your cats and dogs and just live there.

Yep, my dogs avoid raccoons but will raise hell with possums.

I shot a mother and kit about a dozen years ago.  My daughter cried for a couple of days and it took her a few months to get over it.  I promised not to kill any animals on the farm, to get off her monster list.

I find it amazing that my dog always insists on pooping in the exact middle of the street when we are out walking. I assume it has something to do with the fact that this is the highest place in the street and the poop smell will reach the most other canines in the manner. Does anyone else have a dog who does this or know why my dog does this?

No. My dogs strictly abide by a no grass no poop policy. They won't even pee in the street.
