nah, need a result against England though. We should be fine with a win and a draw. Goal differential between Wales and the USA against Iran might be worth watching.

we aren't getting a result against england and then we are going to be confronted with needing to score a bunch against iran and england being ambivalent about winning against wales.

You think England is going to be ambivalent about beating Wales? Ain't no way, man.

I don't understand y'all being sore about a draw against Wales if you think they are good enough to get a result against England but we aren't. Doesn't that indicate they are better than us and a draw was a positive result?

That's why I am where I'm at. A win makes us moving on while not a for sure thing but a highly likely thing, a draw basically mean we have to draw at least England and beat Iran by potentially some goals. I just don't like that

Wales are in the exact same spot tho but they don't play with the ball and rarely score more than one goal.
If we lose, then England being guaranteed top spot regardless of result is very different from their 1st or second game. I think we are better than wales and we outplayed them which is why I am pissed about the draw.

We still control our destiny but in a much worse spot and just assuming that England will destroy wales while we may be on 1 point needing a big win to go through. Even if wales draw with Iran we are in a gross spot.

Wow.  It seemed like Germany dominated 90% of the game.  Hard to win in the WC by scoring just 1 goal though.
So far 1 goal would be enough to win 7/12 games!

Yeah, I didn’t mind Iran winning but I sure didn’t want that second goal.

If we lose to England we need to keep it within 2 and then beat Iran. Two draws should get us through too. Unless Wales beats England by 2 goals.

How does the second goal hurt us? Doesn't it make it harder for Wales while Iran still has a negative differential?

Yeah man we are going to embarrass Iran like Argo all over again. Wales giving up a second goal was huge bc England might be unmotivated

Four rough ridin' goals, man? This is some big beta energy. It's been 70 matches since we lost a match by four goals and 46 since we lost one by 3. We may not win, but we're not getting blown out.

In this scenario, they're already -2 and we'll have to beat them for this to matter. You can't possibly think we're going to lose to England by 4 goals.

If we lose to England we need to win against Iran no matter what. And the win would be enough regardless of differential

I’m an Arsenal fan, I still count on my fingers. I figured beating Iran in any fashion would get us there but assumed some kind of lopsided result might eff us. No way England beats us 4-0.
