there is no plan

That means no shutdown.

the shutdown was a reaction, unfortunately there wasn't a plan associated with it. I would bet there are either more reactionary shutdowns in the fall and winter or we never fully reopen

I'm not sure what this means. just open the doors and wait for a vaccine or what?

It means don't have another blanket shutdown later this year.

MIR, I don’t want to fight. I like you. I think you’re a little hypocritical at times, but so am I.  Hope all is well. #1cat

If we didn't have government imposed social distancing, you really think the economy would have been any better? You really can't think that. You think people would have willingly had elective medical procedures, go to baseball games, hang out in crowded restaurants, go on vacations with strangers from all around the world, go to bars, with as many people dying as would have without social distancing?

Also we know this isn't an old persons disease. If we didn't have social distancing the percentage of non elderly dying would have obviously went up.

There's no one to blame for the state of the economy.

There aren't any perfect analogs for the US, but Sweden has basically done the stay open experiment, and their economy is only marginally outpacing that of it's neighbors, but the death rate is significantly higher.

I don’t think I’m getting my job back any time soon and I’m definitely pouting about it. I put in so much work at my company, where I might have put myself out of work. It’s frustrating for me. I’ve been furloughed for 2 months already, but they don’t need me back because I closed all of my openings before this hit. I’m very sensitive to getting lectured by people who are still working, making the same income, and telling us we need to stay shutdown for awhile. The way my career was going was very exciting for me. I stayed/lived at home through most of my 20’s to pay off student loans and make a life for myself. It literally vanished overnight.

Hope everything is cool, sucks

Good point.  Would their economy have done better if their neighbors would have went with their plan vs. the lockdown route?  I don't much of anything of the Swedish economy except the red fish production.

Unfortunately for Sweden Volvo and IKEA are dependent on the global economy.
