I just read about how these trials work and it sounds like Pfizer really might call theirs good if like 25 people get corona and they were all in the control group.

Doesn’t inspire like amazing confidence considering how difficult it is even for the control group to get it.

Yeah, if the efficacy is above 75% that’s very good. People will not all be 100% immune.

75-80 would be pretty great and combined with those with natural existing immunity would go a long ways to rubbing this bitch out.

It's certainly not an infinite chip where I couldn't get a J&J down the road after getting an AZ for Christmas this year, no?

The large sample size is exactly what would make it not confidence inspiring if 23 control groupers got COVID and like 2 vaxxers did.

Most of the quick vaccines have been mRNA(?) variants which typically require boosters as opposed to live virus vaccines which last much longer. China is supposedly developing some of the live virus ones.

Are these % so high because it's still recommended that many people who think they may have it are just told to stay home and quarantine with the assumption they have it an avoid spending a test on them since we still don't have enough testing in many of these states?

I am guessing they are mostly high because there are shitloads of cases

Or the numbers are wrong?  SD Department of Health reports a 1-day positive rate of 17.7%, 7-day rate of 20.7% and a 14-day rate of 18.7%.

also they pulled the data from the covid tracking project and a quick glance and the numbers look correct.

There still appears to be discrepancies.  SD DOH reports positive tests/total number of tests given, which is Approach 3 at 20.7%.  Link 1 says that SD reports using Approach 1 (number of cases over number of people tested) which doesn't appear to be accurate and assigns a positive rate of 45.96%.  Where did this number come from? 
The Covid Tracking Project references that their data comes from the SD DOH https://doh.sd.gov/news/coronavirus.aspx  There does not seem to be a source for the JH data.  I concede that there would be an increase in the positive rate if only unique people (those not tested before are included) but have a hard time believing it would more than double it.
