Guess I meant to say: "unless basketball is different than baseball.". That would probably make more sense.

We all know that, but make sure they know that. Say something like, "you've probably seen our 30 second spot on youtube..." but all like it's no big deal

it is.  mbball and fball are treated diff than all other sports because some schools make money on them instead of losing it.

Just for my own knowledge, I recall someone mentioning that the NCAA doesn't allow walkon/redshirts to get regular financial aid . . .  is that correct??

it's not that simple.  the rules are actually fairly complex.  but for a simplified, mostly-correct, summary, the recruit can accept any aid for which he qualifies as long as that aid is also available to non-athletes.  however, the recruit still counts against the sport's scholarship limit, regardless if he is on an athletic scholarship or some other form of aid.

there are some loopholes, though.

and some schools probably don't charge football advertisers 50 bucks to put their name on a 3 x 5 ft piece of laminated cardboard duct taped to a pole, but ya know what WE AIN'T THEM!!!

I wasn't talking about a scholaship, but federal loans.  Can't imagine how a kid talking out a widely available loan would count against a schollie limit.

yeah, don't know for sure, but i'd think that'd be no problem.

Omari!  Great news on the walk on, even better if it means booting Juevol and or Martavious next season to clear up our scholarship problem.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

We all can agree that getting a former kinda high level player to walk on a season in the state of Kansas is a pretty elite feeling though, right?
