I'll never understand why so many Libs are in favor of people breaking a myriad of Federal laws or why so many Libs support politicians who willfully and knowingly ignore Federal law and/or proactively advocate breaking/ignoring Federal law.  But that's what we have going on in the case of illegal immigration.

This phenomenon is particularly interesting in light of a collective mentality espouse by many Libs that the Federal government should be, in all matter of thinking, the great over lord.  States and local governments in their view are not to be trusted, too prone to undue influence by local players, particularly evil conservatives.   Collectively their world view places Washington DC as the omnipotent grand controller of all things in the United States.

Except!  In regards those select things that are counter to their world view.  Then, by all means, defer immediately to the local political ethos.  After all, on these select few things it is the indigenous politician (so long as we agree with them politically) that truly understands the situation and is "compassionate".

It's because they don't support those laws, dax. If you can't get the laws changed to something more acceptable, the best course of action is to just hope they don't get enforced.

That's not the way this country works, friend. You don't get to pick what laws you do or don't adhere to.

There's also clear political motivation.

It's how the country has worked for at least the last 15 years or so. I'm not old enough to have been paying attention before that.

Keep telling yourself that presidents both D and R haven't been handed great power over immigration by both D and R legislators.

Send in the commandos with the M9's to grab a kid and send him back to Cuba?  No big woof, it's the law and Bill Clinton was a Democrat.

Suspend Iraqi visas for six months?  No big deal, Obama is a Democrat.

Lol, okay, but I understand TRO's, so, and that of course does nothing to resolve the politics of the issues of today and the past.

If Donald Sloth doesn't get to work on repealing Obamacare soon and lowering taxes, mad ass conservatives will be marching.

Undocumented workers broke our immigration laws, and I believe they must be held accountable . . . there are actions I have the legal authority to take as president . . . if you're a criminal, you'll be deported, if you plan on crossing the border illegally your chances of getting caught just went up and you will be sent back . . . we expect that those that cut the line, will not be unfairly rewarded

All Americans, not only in the states most heavily affected but in every place in this country, are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country. The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants. The public service they use impose burdens on our taxpayers. That’s why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens.

We are a nation of immigrants. But we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years, and we must do more to stop it.

President William Clinton

President William Clinton

How can Trump and his groupies get this so wrong?  This concept isn't new as Dax so happily points out and has been a effort of past presidents....but they did it in a legal way and a way that both sides appreciate as it's in line with our culture.  The oafish/ignorant/racist style of ruling Trump is trying to do is the problem in this instance, not the core principal of illegal immigration.

I think Trump's approach to illegal immigration is legal. It's terrible for the people and communities affected, but legal. It's his approach to legal immigration from some Islamic states that has been ruled illegal.

As of last summer the FBI had over 1000 cases involving the Islamic State alone and the resources to really investigate a select few.

When I read about how we still pretty much have the door wide open I think the FBI has done a great job so far and somebody get them some help.   I'm sure they would have appreciated the temporary pause.

Don't they already get a couple of years to investigate anyone who wants to come here from those countries?

Looks like the EO's Constitutionality is debatable, after all.

His EO has nothing to do with illegal immigration.  It's confusing why Dax is quoting past president's statements on illegal immigrants.

...and now we see why you don't say "muslim ban when I get elected" and then try and pass a thinly veiled muslim ban....LOL TRUMP

I believe you can file this in the "full throated denial" bucket.

Hundreds of millions of Muslims were open to go through whatever channels to immigrate or visit the US during the temporary suspension from 7 countries  = "Muslim Ban".

No winning against that kind of idiocy.
