i know a younger married couple (probably in their low 30's) that has a couple kids, they take them to disney world/land.  then every year, they go without the kids, like probably the only trip they have all year without the kids, is also to disney world.  can't wrap my brain around it.

Yeah, you can buy FP for your crew. But you don't need to.

Are we talking about the same thing? When I went, everybody got FP as part of their admission, and it doesn't appear to have changed based on what I'm reading.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

Maybe the 30s couple has points or something? The Animals doing a Disney cruise when they are all adults is alarming - running those creeps off maybe the best thing Sam ever did

I think I've got this Disney thing figured out. There are "after 5pm" single-park tickets available for $59 through my conference. And those tickets include EMH since I'm staying at Swan/Dolphin. Animal Kingdom has EMH pretty much every night in June, which stays open from 11pm to 1am. I'm assuming that's because of Avatar. So I'm gonna get one ticket and head over after dinner to party with the Na'vi!

You can get unlimited front of the line. But it's pretty exclusive to HERs (or just Rs) and not HENRYs.

I would get incredibly depressed doing Disney World without my kids. Mrs dave and I went out to dinner last night without them and I got depressed they weren't with us. That said, there are an incredible amount of old people that do it.

I agree it would be depressing to go to Magic Kingdom without my kids. All the old nostalgic rides. But the Avatar stuff is brand new so it should be fun exploring by myself for one evening. Might even rope in some folks from the conference, we'll see. I'm impressed the ticket price is so discounted after 5pm.

Some couples have joint checking accounts and some go to Disney theme parks without their kids and I'm sure that works great for them.

I'm sure this has been discussed but do Mrs. Gooch and I need to rent some kids or would Disney still be fun without kids?

It'll probably help you decide to have kids! Kids are awesome.

You'll love a lot of the stuff and be annoyed by a lot of the stuff but you can just avoid that stuff. I think going as a childless couple is great. But once you have kids it would suck. Does that make sense?

I took this as go and ride the rides and avoid all the actors in the costumes.

I was trying to imagine going without kids. Adding drinking to the equation made it much easier. I'd definitely do the drink around the world at Epcot thing.

Heading off to Disney tomorrow.  Not actually going to the parks until Mon-Tue-Wed, just going to do other Florida stuff this weekend.

I did Disney World as a family trip with kids that aren't my kids a couple of years ago and the trip would have been way more fun with no kids.

it makes it ok but there are approx a trillion other places that you can drink at and have more fun than DW

This sounds like an awesome service. No organizing/planning/thinking. $2400, six hour minimum, though.  :sdeek:

Quote
Starting at $400 an hour on off-peak days and ranging up to $550 an hour with a 6-hour minimum on peak days, Disneyland’s VIP Tour package provides a uniformed guide for a group of up to 10 people. Inside the park, the plaid vest-clad guide helps guests gain expedited access to over 30 attractions by acquiring FastPass tickets or escorting them through an exit or alternate entrance. They can also arrange for premium seating at the parade, fireworks or light shows.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about earlier. You see families with those escort people all the time.

So we're looking at a week on property in 2018. It my oldest kid's senior year and I let her choose the vacation. Shoot me.

How's the construction looking at the different resorts? Any places to definitely avoid? Family of four with two teenagers.

And go.
