Also open to scientific texts. I think I'm going to buy some textbooks too. I'm tired of rotting my brain.

Remember that fat bald dude from MTV Matt Pinfield?  Just finished his book called All These Things That I've Done. It was pretty good. He's lived a pretty badass life. If you are into music, I recommend it. Pretty quick read too.

Brian Greene has some good books on String theory, parallel universes and theoretical physics that I have enjoyed too.

Just purchased the Elegant Universe. Working on finishing mastery of love. And rereading Anna Karenina

I finished the Breakers series last night. It was very good.
Your Bible Qs in the pit make me think you should read the gospel according  to jesus christ.  His writing style is strange in the beginning, but you get used to it.

Looks interesting. I'll look into it more when I finish the book I am currently reading. Thanks.

So far I've only read the first introduction chapter. It is basically just a description of a painting, but it already has my interest.

I'm almost done with this book and it is very good. I can't believe the Catholic church didn't have all of the copies burned.

Started Earnhardt Nation. Don't know a thing about racing cars, but someone recommended it. The prologue was all about the day he died and was pretty  :Crybaby: Heard Dale was a huge badass though and I'm looking forward to the alive stories.

Tale of Two Cities, SDK. It's the most beautiful English prose there's ever been.

I'm working through The Idiot, on Bubbles' reccomendo.

Along with Anna Karenina, a very famous opening line.

It probably has the most iconic opening and closing line duo of any book ever written.

Dawn by Octavia Butler

Chingon is really good at recommending books. I read the whole series and it was great.

I just finished the series. Agree it's fantastic but goddam the ending seemed rushed.

on a few different levels here

at bedtime to kid:
finished Harry Potter book 1
reading Harry Potter book 2 and Alice and Wonderland

me off/on:
The Assassination of Julius Caesar (picked this back up after starting and leaving a lot)
HP Lovecraft short stories
also occasionally reading Crumb's comic book version of the book of Genesis (very weird)

I like short stories in general and really like the fact that Lovecraft's have some common allusions/objects that populate a world. Once you get past the racism, pretty good sci fi. Kind of a Sherlock Holmes meets Phillip K Dick.

Short stories are great. I'm currently reading Foner's abridged history of reconstruction. Shout out to Charles Sumner

my BOY!  only thing I know of Sumner is that he got his ass beat on the floor of congress for being a bit of a smartass while arguing for abolition, but that's my favorite story I know.

Wow, what a great faux pas I made. I meant to say Charles Sanders! The great KSU history professor who used Foner as a class text.
