I am halfway through the last book of the 4 book "Hyperion Cantos," and it's fantastic.

I hadn't read a ton of science fiction.  This is book series is science fiction mixed with kicking ass, mixed with theology, mixed with politics, mixed with awesomeness.

I'm reading the Breakers series. It is a post-apocalyptic type where 95% of the population is wiped out by a virus. It is very good. There are 8 books in the series. I got the first set of 3 free on BookBub and then I paid for the next set of 3. I am currently int he middle of book 4.

Finished the first breakers book and am halfway through the second, loving it. I feel like they are all going to follow the same premise of

1. Person is a loser
2. Everyone dies
3. They become badass ninja warrior who destroys aliens and bad guys

How about I just buy your books 3-6 when your done?

Not exactly but they do follow this pattern...

POV character 1 is in one place. POV character 2 is in another place. Eventually they end up in the same place.

My books 3-6 are Amazon/Kindle books. I think there is a way to loan them though.

1493 is also great.

Sapiens is science light but interesting philosophically and a very good read:

Your Bible Qs in the pit make me think you should read the gospel according  to jesus christ.  His writing style is strange in the beginning, but you get used to it.

The new Thomas Freidman, "Thank you for being late" is pretty good. I like his style and way of viewing the world, although he is a bit too sentimental about the time in which he grew up

So far I've only read the first introduction chapter. It is basically just a description of a painting, but it already has my interest.

I read 100 years of solitude. Eh, not my favorite.

Yeah, I don't got the hype, Mich. It's one of those books everyone is forced to read in high school, like The Fountainhead or something (obviously Marquez is not as awful as AR, just an analogy), and you just look back on your 17 year-old self that liked it at the time and

This book was directly related to me switching majors in grad school. I was halfway through a paper on how the plot is organized around powerful women or some such bullshit and was like "OMG WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE"
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."

Also, Chingon, you probably already read it, but "The Aleph and Other Stories" is a great short story collection. Among my favorites that I have kept and reread since college.

One of my reading goals is to read all of the classics. Anyone have suggestions? I own quite a few and have read many. I'm just looking for ones to add to my tablet.

As far as non classics, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius is my fave. Classics: Lolita and Anna Karenina.

What kind of classics?  Like The Iliad and The Odyssey, or LOTR's type?
