This gets back to the fact this story is playing out at different levels. What the president may think can be different from what the AD may think (see last year). Or what the president and AD may think could be different from the regents.

I'll just say some were less committed to the LHN than others on Friday and Saturday and realized there were those who were more committed to the LHN on Sunday.

The goal right now is to preserve LHN (that's why the ACC was brought up - because ESPN might be able to make a marriage between the conference they hold all the TV rights to as well as LHN).

But if LHN can't be preserved, you'll see Texas consider anything and everything - from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten to independence.

UT right now waiting to see if OU follows through with apparent plans to go Pac-12.

Here's kind of a question for those with crystal balls. Will these so called super conferences last longer than say 10 - 15 years? Teams are going to get tired of winning the conference championship once every 10 years. Remember ol Mack Brown bitchin about having to play OU every year to decide who goes to the championship? Is govt money flowing like it once was for academics at these "elite" academic conferences? And what are they gonna do when we get the NBAF and poison our nations food supply because we got forced to go play in the east coast conference of left overs?

I think I really agree with their metaphorical logic here, which is, I think, that the best way to wake a sleeping giant is to allow that giant to be trampled by a bunch of other giants and some really big, Marfan Syndrome-type people or maybe some offensive linemen-sized individuals. Even if the giant is lacerated or heavily bruised in the process of being roused, he will be capable of accomplishing a great deal more than a sleeping giant - to a lesser extent against other giants but to a greater extent against Marfan Syndrome-type people and certainly offensive lineman-sized entities - due to his being a fully awake giant.
