How long would they (or any non sec/big 10 school) take a 50% reduction to get invited? Unless the school thinks some sort of major changes to college TV rights  are coming (like equal rights collective bargaining,...yea right), then even a 30-50 year agreement would probably make financial sense. Swallowing pride is hard though.

My belief is that Cal and Stanford are mumped, because the big 10 likes money.  Almost zero chance, IMO, that academics play any part in this for the big 10 going forward.

I think their reasoning is the California pod will save the conference considerable money in travel experience, as it isn't just the California schools but also the cost to the other Big 10 schools.  I suspect the eastern schools will also appreciate the fact that they may be more competitive by adding Cal and Stanford and not looking at getting an ass beating when traveling across the country.

Wasn't there just a story that the B10 wanted Oregon with USC but felt compelled to take UCLA to ensure USC would happen?  I don't think they give a eff about Cal and Stanford.

Yep. And if, IF, the big 10 gave a crap about USC and UCLA’s travel burden (I strongly doubt that they do), then adding Oregon and Washington would be vastly better better than Stanford or Cal.

Also (and you know this about me), I am only considering the revenue sports. I acknowledge that Stanford is elite in many non-revenue sports.

They definitely are easier to get to than Rutgers, but they really wouldn’t make super “travel partners.”  Tho, Cal and Stanford might be better travel partners for Oregon and Washington than USC and UCLA. California is a very long state.

If it was all verbal, and they can't produce any documentary evidence, it will be difficult to prove. However, if they can find some witnesses (other than themselves) who can confirm their account based on contemporary conversations, it's doable.

These are executives, they have a duty to disclose to the Board, "but I told my boss" is not a great defense at that level.  Also, it was the new boss who fired them, if it had been Scott then they might have a case.

New podcast bs about NBC bidding on the full package with USA broadcasting most of the games and Peacock having one streaming game per week.  Also, if NBC has open time slots they will broadcast a few games per season along with the CCG.

This is only a guess, but according to recent information from the Colorado Chancalar's interview, they may be getting a network deal that is mostly linear.   Sounds like there may be smoke in the NBC rumors and he is saying they are getting close to a contract proposal.

You think there's documents from Larry Scott knowingly ripping off a media partner? I know he was stupid, but no one is dumb enough to leave a paper trail doing that.
