Am I crazy or is that what I said? It wasn't close. Texas didn't want to leave because the UPs didn't promise them the unequal revenue they had here and UT had already started negotiating with ESPN about LHN. Anyway, the tech president went on the record saying the Pac 10 rejected expansion.

Texas Tech President Guy Bailey said he would've wanted Tech to have been part of any mass move of Big 12 Conference schools to the Pac-12 Conference, but wasn't surprised when Pac-12 presidents voted against expansion late Tuesday.

Now I could be wrong but the only reason why UT and OU released statements at the time was because they were a sure thing while Tech, OSU, KU and to a much lesser extent KSU, were hoping to be pulled along.

I'm trying to find the other date but this was the first of three times the Pac 12 UPs rejected the Big 12. We know they did in 2021 but I'm pretty sure it happened again in '14, '15, '16 ish.
