I've eaten at the Fuzzy's taco place on Wornall in KC.  Not impressed at all.

you have a pretty refined taco palate

No question hibachi failed to respond to the changing landscape in aggieville.  I guess the question is did the landscape really have to change and did it change for the better?

Yeah, adding better local restaurants (not Fuzzy's Taco's, the ones that people currently go to instead of Hibachi Hut) is a change for the better.

High end pizza would be cool.

There's enough pizza in aggieville imo.

A quick pasta place might be kind of cool though.  Maybe a Noodles & Company type establishment.

I should've said "having added."

It's true.  I really do.  Sort of snobby about it.

I've never heard of this hibachi hut place.  That's probably because I eat cabesa del rel @ la hacienda for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Being replaced by a place named Fuzzys Tacos. Fuzzys rough ridin' tacos.

It's decent, but I won't spend one red rough ridin' cent in there...  Just like I won't go to BWW, Chipotle, or Pizza Hut in Manhattan.

Good job, townies.  You're turning the 'ville into a big Joco strip mall.

Pretty weird to blame this on townies. Pizza Hut was local when they moved in, they made pizza better than everyone else and now they are a global icon. Maybe the people at HH should have ask for lessons. Does your self-imposed ban extend to Varneys, Planet Sub, and PBR?

People who eat at chain restaurants are just liberal dumbasses who don't sign paychecks

That statement was amazing to me, because I was convinced of the opposite.   Fat ass 'necks as far as the eye can see in your local Applebee's, for example.

Canadian guy that I know says that the very finest hydroponic in MHS could be procured from the right Hut related connections back in the day.  Like neon blue-green...so the story goes.

This was true.

My brother and I went to the Hut about six months ago. I had a Gaucho out of nostalgia, as that and the Belly Bomb was a once-a-week dinner 20 years earlier. It wasn't the same sandwich. Not what it was under Heritage, who cared about blues and food.

I ate at Hibachi Hut when I first moved here, based upon a recommendation. The food was sub-par and I did not go back. The next time I went to Aggieville for dinner I took my business to So Long. It was good. I still eat there.  :dunno:

I think it was Fake Patty's in maybe 2008 or 2009 at Hibachi Hut late in the afternoon when I decided to prove to my table-mates how much I enjoyed hot sauce, so I poured like half a bottle into my long island and almost threw up from the severe mouth burn. I'll miss you, HH.  :bawl:

Yeah, some folks can stand on their own and others need to steal the subscriber base of there then current employer and then attach their name to mega web content providers in order to survive.

Hibachi Hut was great. Nothing weird about it.
Nothing weird about Hibachi Hut?  Everything about Hibachi Hut was weird.  Just look at the place:

I see nothing wrong here. its a restaurant in Aggieville for Christs sake. Not even close to being weirder than Maes or the Lou.

Pete, how does it rank compared to other taco/burrito chains like Chipotle?

I ate at HH once in college.  It was pretty meh.  Probably around 2001 or so.

The only memorable part was that Michael Smith was on a date with a college student and rolled into the booth next to me.

Also, since Pat's lost their liquor license and can't pay their taxes, who do you see buying the place? Pretty much the best location in the ville.

Are you comparing Hibachi Hut to the Lou?  I guess that Music Store in Aggieville is pretty weird too, but then again, that's not any more a restaurant than the Lou is.

I don't know, every time I went in there it just gave me a weird vibe.  Some may have found it endearing, but i didn't.  When I did eat there, I ate there despite the weird atmosphere.  I liked Hibachi well enough, but I don't think I'll really miss it.

it was the first mhk restaurant my dad ate at in 1971 and he always said that the interior still looked exactly the same 40 years later.  we went there all the time.  it wasn't the best food in aggieville after it was sold, that is true.  it was very weird and that was probably what I loved most about it.  the weird menu, the weird different restaurants in different rooms thing, the old fat lady hostess who would always just stare at you grumpily and say "hibachi or texas star?"  oh and the weird massive picture along the back wall.

maybe more than the food or drinks or the restaurant itself I'll miss all the memories of eating there with my family before and after football games as a kid.  it was a special place to me.
