Quite the melt down last night on twitter. I agree it  sucks, but people were laying blame on all the wrong people. Its not my fault or the mhk governments fault if a business fails.

How the hell does that place fail? Who is the current owner. John sold it several years ago, iirc.

Why the hell are people on twitter acting like Aggieville is nothing but chain restaurants now? Also Fitz making fun of "the liberals" while blaming MHK government for giving Aggieville a bad name among locals. Maybe the president of the Aggieville Business Association could do something the counteract any perceived negative stereotypes. Maybe the ABA could have a website that lists the features of the shopping district. Nope, they went the 1996 route and threw up a "Coming Soon" page http://www.aggieville.org/. But you can email them!

From what I can tell, all the butthurt is from Fitz that a longtime business is gone and being replaced by a chain.
So far, he's blamed MHK govt, the establishment, and told anyone who questions him they're a liberal who doesn't sign paychecks so they just don't understand.

I just asked him if the Aggieville Business Association would accept a membership check from Fuzzy Tacos after he said "I have no interest in running for local office. I'm busy running my business. employing people and promoting local businesses."

Apparently he's too busy to promote all local businesses properly.

He blamed the MHK locals too. Really everyones fault but the HH owners I guess. His melt down os very childish.

i lived in manhattan for five years or so. went to hibachi hut once. it was gross. never went again. that doesn't mean i don't support local businesses. it just means i don't support local businesses with crappy food.

i went to so long saloon many times. good food, good price, good experience. kept going back.

went to ray's apple market once. paid twice as much for food that all the chain grocery stores sold. never went back. gave my business to HyVee and Wal-Mart.

went to tubby's quite a bit. but preferred buffalo wild wings.

read gopowercat from time to time. but preferred austin meek's (TOPEKA!) free coverage.

got my haircut at that aggieville barber place once. but the barber talked my face off and gave me a crappy haircut. so, i started going to great clips. they gave me slightly worse haircuts at a cheaper price and never talked to me. perfect!

i'll never understand the concept of blindly supporting local businesses when others are able to offer similar (or better products) at cheaper prices.

sorry, dusty book shelf. i ordered everything from amazon.

Oh man, Fitz is really mad his government check isn't big enough:

There are no membership dues to the ABA. The city funds us through BID funding. A fast majority of the district is locally owned.
