He beat off during a video call right in front of his co-workers, MIR. It's not like his home security camera caught him beating off or something. It's like beating off behind your desk while people are in your office trying to talk to you about work stuff.

Come on man, that's a bad analogy. Your analogy works if he knew he was on camera and did it anyway, did he? If this is the case he committed assault, he should be arrested, and then obviously fired for breaking the law and committing an -isim.

I hate Clay. I just hate the liberal media more. That’s all. I don’t even know who the guy is who jerked off on camera in front of his coworkers, but it seems like a fireable offense.

MiR, you're wrong here. There's no comparison or parallel, he jerked off in front of his coworkers on zoom. Intentional or not, that is  inappropriate, made his colleagues  uncomfortable, and was fireable.

Obviously it being intentional would be worse, but unintentional doesn't make colleagues any less uncomfortable and it's still fireable IMO.

Best analogy I could think of is beating off in his office with the door cracked. Is that what your 80% number refers to?

I hire for a living and one of the most unique takeaways I got from the field lately is front office staff being so relaxed on zoom interview calls, where they can tell their high. Zoom has been a great resource during these times, but people are taking advantage of the lack of one-on-one in person engagements. It’s sad. This guy should be held accountable, if for anything, beating off on the job.

I'm fine if he was yanking it to porn, but not if it was to someone on the Zoom call.

I had a self-imposed 36-hour ban from this thread so I haven’t read everything, but at first glance it seems like MIR is saying a dude who beat off when he was at work shouldn’t be fired…which can’t be what he’s saying, because if he is, that would be more embarrassing than me posting the same meme 11 times in a row.

I'll be wrong in all of your eyes, I don't care. I see it the same way as his employer and his co-workers do, ultimately their opinion matters more than literally everyone else.

Well his colleagues at CNN obviously don't have a problem with it, do they? We haven't heard a word from anyone there anonymous or otherwise.

I'm fine if he was yanking it to porn, but not if it was to someone on the Zoom call.

He thought he was alone in a breakout room.

Quote
Both people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to speak freely, noted that it was unclear how much each person saw, but both said that they saw Toobin jerking off. The two sources described a juncture in the election simulation when there was a strategy session, and the Democrats and Republicans went into their respective break out rooms for about 10 minutes. At this point, they said, it seemed like Toobin was on a second video call. The sources said that when the groups returned from their break out rooms, Toobin lowered the camera. The people on the call said they could see Toobin touching his penis. Toobin then left the call. Moments later, he called back in, seemingly unaware of what his colleagues had been able to see, and the simulation continued.

I mean he WAS fired from the New Yorker for it.

And my goodness, the fact that CNN colleagues haven't been on the record decrying it does not mean they are ok with it, like at all.

Is it easier for you to think trump beat his meat on camera, for you to understand all of this?

MIR I like you man, but just take the L on this one. The position you’re defending is insane.

Let’s make this easier, say chum1 was caught beating off in front of his new employers on a zoom call. Should Roy, HRP, and D2 get together and fire him from his old job?  (Leave aside the fact that they didn’t realize he had a second job in the first place).

I agree with MIR here. They suspended him, they still feel he is valuable to the company.

Why is the only acceptable option for you people firing him? I actually think it’s dumb as hell whenever some mob of people demand someone should be fired from a company they don’t work for.

I really don't care if he gets fired from CNN but I don't understand why they kept him, since it's pretty bad PR and could hurt their bottom line if advertisers take issue with it. Also, spracs could do his job and do it better in a heartbeat.

If chum1 gets fired for any reason it won't make national news and damage his second company's reputation, so again, not really comparable in any way.

CNN is the one at risk, and they’ve decided he’s still valuable, so your first part is just wild ass speculation.

Obviously CNN decided it's worth the risk. Like I said, I don't understand why.

You and I would be fired from our jobs for beating our meat on a zoom call.  Its not like anyone is saying he can’t ever work again, just that it is a fair outcome for a dude beating his meat on a zoom call to be fired from current employer.

Value to the company can only take you so far. There’s definitely a few factors that could weigh in favor of keeping someone, but in this case they all weigh against.

1. The incident was publicly known
2. Witnessed by multiple employees who clearly were upset about it
3. Involving a figure who faces the public on behalf of the company
4. Tons of people lined up to take his spot

It’s objectively a bad decision for CNN. Do I think he needs to wear a scarlet letter the rest of his life? Not really, but he certainly can’t expect another outlet to have him broadcasting his face attached to their name.
