waters should be the qb between the 30's.  sams inside the 30's.

Sams should be the quarterback whenever we're on offense.  Waters should be the quarterback whenever Sams is incapacitated.

Waters is crazy accurate guys, he doesn't get rattled when pressure comes either. Nice pocket presence and can usually elude pressure.

I mean, you can continue to make up whatever attributes you want to see in him but he's played 95% of the snaps on offense against a 1-AA team and an 0-2 Sunbelt (?) team and has a 1:2 TD:Int ratio and a 1-1 record.

The biggest problem here, and I'm only half-joking with this, is that Snyder doesn't like either of these two quarterbacks, because they both can score too quickly. We saw Waters last week flick his wrist for a couple of 50-yard touchdowns. We all know that Sams runs the ball in for 6 pretty much every time he touches it.

So they score fast, and then Snyder looks over and realizes that it means his sieve defense has to go back out on the field. And that just makes his blood pressure go through the roof.

So to prevent this, he makes Waters run the Queso dink-and-dunk offense with an emphasis on terrible play calls. And he keeps Sams out of the game as much as he can short of inciting riots. Snyder only wants to gain 3.4 yards per play, but his options at quarterback make that pretty tough.

Last year on gE.com:
"Klein sucks at passing. Why is he passing? Put Sams in!"

Now on gE.com:
"Waters sucks at running. Why is he running? Put Sams in!"

It's like the same, but different!

Yes.  The correct answer is always: "put Sams in"

Yep, Sams sure can pass, what was he passing?  1-1 w/ a little dump to the TE.

Look, we have a Qb mess I say....Waters can pass but he can't run

Sams can run, but anyone who says he can pass like Waters is a dummy.  What, Waters threw a couple more pics? One was miller's fault, he was taught to use his facemask instead of his hands. The other one was on Waters.

Folks, there is a reason Sams is not throwing the ball.  Just cause he throws a nice spiral and can sling it doesn't matter if he can't hit the open WR's. (sounds like Roberson's So year)

This is beginning to shape up to Dunn/Roberson 2......although Waters is wwwaaayyyy better than Dunn.

For those wanting Sams as Qb, you do realize that 2 of our other offensive stars (Locket and Thompson) would be neglected to be primary blockers?  One would assume that we would be a running offense, right (think GT)? The reason I say that is cause Snyder won't let Sams pass.  The above poster may be right in that Sams could be god awful reading defenses since Snyder won't let him throw the ball.

Anyways, I like both QB's for different reasons.

Waters isn't terrible, but he is averaging 2 turnovers a game, cannot convert on 3rd and short, and struggles in the red zone.  All of those things are big issues.

One of those turnovers was on a hail mary and the other was Miller being a Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) and not being able to catch a simple screen pass. His other two INT's were bad though.

we don't convert on 3rd and short, because Bill insists on running Waters in obvious rushing situations, and then does even stipuder things such the read option end around on 4th and 1.

Waters has thrown 2 picks, one yesterday was off the face of a receiver, hardly Water's fault, the other was a dub move tossing into triple coverage.   Against NDSU he had 1 dumb pick, then another desperation pick where IIRC he appeared to be trying to throw it away at the end of the game to stop the clock.

I'd have to see a list of the plays, but in the red zone we often shrivel up and try to run, again, not Waters' strong suit.    Waters is a decent QB when called upon to do the things he does well.   It is on the coaching staff to use Waters AND Sams to the best of their abilities.

Waters threw 333 attempts at IWU, with only 3 picks.    Give him some time, and I think he will settle in.   I like the double-edged attack, but would like to see Sams used me like Belldozer in situational rushing in addition to leading some drives now and then.

How many sacks has he taken? Even with the shitty O-Line play in the first game. Two bad throws that resulted in picks, but he's completing 72% of his passes and has almost 600 yards through the air in the first two games

Sagarin rated NDSU 49th and ULL 76th after last weeks games.    While not stellar, thats not "really crappy" either.      Just a few above NDSU are Arkansas and Mizzou....would you categorize them as "really crappy" if you were being honest?
