I'm sure it's no surprise but a 10+ place drop, after a road loss to a team like Missouri, is wildly inconsistent on how other teams in the top 25 are ranked. It's early in the season so it's whatever, it will eventually shake out.

The only reason I could justify such a drop for losing by 3 while away at a school like 2-0 MU would be if it was wildly obvious that Will’s injury was going to be around awhile. Like they are not just punishing the loss but predicting future struggle based on his lack of mobility.

The fact that nothing has been announced and that our drop happened in both AP and Coaches, leads me to believing that would be giving way to much credit to a bunch of folks who didn’t watch the game, or any of our past games.

That returns me to wondering why, given that we are returning conf champs and 2-1. Seems crazy.

Sure seems a tad extreme for losing on the road on a 61 yard FG, for sure. My hope is that it’s not related to the injury. But that was my first thought also.

Looking at the rankings it’s not hard to see that the galaxy brain voters only ranked 1 loss teams if that loss was to another ranked team. If they had more respect for Mizzou we’d still be up there, not that any of it matters in the grand scheme.
