Saw earlier today that Moose is following Frank to SC...are their fans upset about it i wonder?

they are pumped about everything frank does.

sprads looked like a perfectly capable backup pg out of high school. Not sure why anyone thinks this guy will be better than sprads other than the extra point on the ESPN rating.

we were really in a good position to take a risk on a qualifying....risk.

Yes we have plenty of guards on the roster, we're replacing a forward with another guard.  Tech needs guards.  This is why I don't but the qualifying risk angle.  I'm sure its just because I hate Weber and want Frank back though.  Its not possible to rationally question anything Weber has done without it being about the last guy.

yeah, im sure the qualifyiing risk wasn't the determining factor. Weber has watched Orris play, recruited him a while. Obviously has a relationship with him. Should Weber have never recruited him way back when? maybe. But it makes sense why he is now coming to ksu over Gray.  I don't agree with it and would rather have Gray...but i don't blame Weber for doing it. (wish he would at least return a phone call though, if that story is legit.)

I would have trouble with any coach sticking with a player just because you've recruited him for a while when a better option is available.  I would understand that if Weber was still at Illinois.  Weber had no binding offer to Orris at Kansas State.  I'm deathly afraid that you're 100% correct and Weber kept Orris because he was the familiar and comfortable choice.  That's damning if so.

They are excited about the Moose signing and I don't know why, always saw him as a wait and see kinda of player that looks very meh for a program in their state, for us he was kinda of a WTF??? signing. I believe Weber see Orris as a team leader over any thing else, something he didn't have Illinois considering that team had a lack of chemistry, he doesn't have to play a lot to serve his role on the team. We will have to sign a 2/3 in 2013 that can play 20-15 minutes to not drop off in talent(the loss of Mcgruder)

I bet people at USC would be a lot less happy if a top 150 big was interested in USC had a visit date lined up and then found out later that Frank didn't call him back when it was time for said visit.

Orris angst has more to do with Weber, Gray, and to an extent Spradling and not so much with Orris himself.  I think several people anticipated that Orris would be the exact type of player that K-State Weber would draw, I don't think many thought that type of player would come in lieu of seemingly more talented and interested players.

Not far to judge anybody's recruiting ability on spring recruits, if their is something to be mad at it would be offering Sam Singer http://verbalcommits.com/players/sam-singer

Are you referring to USC's offer to Singer?  USC isn't even his best offer.  This seems like you're comparing our program to USC's.  I hope I'm misinterpretating your post, I'm sure I am.  Singer would be fine for USC at this point.  Huggins freshmen at KSU were James Franklin, Luis Colon, Jason Bennett, Brady Johnson, Energy, Bill Walker, and Blake Young.

We were in a perfectly good position to take a risk on a coaching hire, too.  In both cases we choose the guaranteed "meh".  Get used to it, it's how we are doing things now.  Ahead:  entire seasons of "meh".

I thought the official stance of the Sprad family was the he didn't want to be locked in a house by the coach and then have said house set ablaze by said coach.

i don't think martin said he would lock spradler in the house.  i imagine he just assumed spradling would take one look at the fire in the paint and reverse pivot his way into some sort of fiery death.

Kansas State, Virginia, Mississippi State, Boston College, Wisconsin-Green Bay, St. Louis, Valparaiso, and Southern Illinois are recruiting me.

"Also, Pitt has entered the mix. My AAU coach has talked to Coach (Jamie) Dixon multiple times and I have also talked to Coach Dixon and Coach Barton. The talks have gone well. We have played phone tag the last couple of days with Coach Dixon but we are in the process of trying to set up a visit."

Pitt has shown interest in Orris, and he is very interested in the Panthers as well, partly due to the fact that he has family in the Pittsburgh area.

"I am very interested and I think they have a great program," Orris said. "They have a great tradition of success. I think they want to get me on campus and see if it is a good fit for both of us. They haven't offered so we are just waiting to get on campus and see what happens.

"If Pitt were to offer, they would be a top school for me. Their program has always been a great interest for me since my family is from Pittsburgh and I still have family there. I would like to have a decision sooner rather than later but I won't rush it. I still need to find the right fit

Hey man, in a couple of years if Michael Orris is anything but the 4th signee in a big class, I'll be right there with #teambutthurt.   But nobody gets tossed under the bus 1 month into the job.

I will admit that as of right now oscar Weber provides the single biggest quandary for my life long roll with EMAW.    I mean the guy has coached in the biggest game, he's taken 2 programs to the NCAA tourney multiple times, he's won major conference titles.  Yet, he's also sucked as well.

But as I've said before, I gave Stan Parrish, Ron Prince, Jim Wooldridge, Dana Altman and Tom Asbury the benefit of the doubt until they clearly showed they were non hackers.  So I can't change now.

I don't know how you could know that Ron Prince couldn't hack it in 2.5 years but think oscar Weber's nine years at Illinois aren't enough to know if he can hack it.

Its been discussed, but I'll repeat what I've already said.

Honestly, I don't think those are comparable at all. Making the comparison to an inexperienced head coach with a massive ego that ran off his best assistants is a reach. No doubt Weber has made plenty mistakes, but they aren't anywhere near what Prince made and Prince never had anything similar to the success Weber had.

Weber had good years and bad years at Illinois. He had good years at SIU.

If you want to believe that his last 6 years at Illinois definitively proves he is a failure as a high major head coach you have that choice. While I have been consistent in stating that several of those years are a concern, they aren't so much so that I won't give him any chance before he coaches a game. And I won't just assume everything he does is doomed to failure. I believe its possible to learn from the mistakes he's made in the 2-3 bad years he's had in a much longer head coaching career.

that is confusing. the dana altman one was more confusing though. dana left kstate on his own free will. did some pretty great things at creghton of all places. took the arkansas job at 1.5/year only renege a day later and and then recently took over a bad oregon team and managed to take them to a 13-5 conference record in only his second year. saying that dana can't hack it but not knowing whether or not oscar can is just bewildering to me. like, i probably would have taken dana over oscar if dana would have been an option.
