Welp, sounds like this thread may be prematurely retired. Someone fired RPGs at the international communications satellite in my neighborhood this morning. Evac is currently til 25 oct. This will almost guarantee a 30-day extension. And if it hits the 180-day mark at the end of December, it automatically goes unaccompanied (no kids). :frown:

So, with you and Mrs. Rex both employed there, how would the unaccompanied thing work?  Still take the little one but without free school and stuff?

Guys, I just found out this morning that my fav pair of jeans was made in Egypt.  Basically, what I am saying is that the Rexes need to get their asses back to Egypt and smooth this bullshit out.

We're back in Kansas right now. If it goes unaccompanied, that means no kids at all, so no return in January, tour over, etc. So, we'd go back to DC. On the bright side, someone else has to pack up all our stuff to ship back.

We're flexible.

Meanwhile, in a promising sign, Egyptian media thinks there's a civil war coming and that the US met with the Germans and Jews at our military base in Germany to discuss how to get weapons to Hamas and the MB, because clearly there's never been five groups with more in common and a greater history of cooperation.

I just got back to TaTown and may still be here this weekend. Seems like a good game to pak our faces off.

Felix! Found some random Egyptian banner on google streetview in brooklyn, says "EID Mubarak". What does it mean?!?

You can see it for yourself here, just turn 180 from where it is facing.

Mubarak literally means "blessed". Eid means feast (I think) and they use it like we use holiday. So during Ramadan, they always say "blessed feast" like we say "merry Christmas" only it's like if Obama was just impeached and his last name was also Christmas.

Of course, it may also just mean Happy Ramadan.

Yikes. This video is literally in my old neighborhood. I can see my street at one point.

Here is a really good article on what was going on behind the scenes in the months before the "revolution of the state".

Yeah. Most of the office, actually. The Mormons all sent their wives and 7 sons home, and most of the others are either single or don't have kids. I haven't been able to contact my Egyptian Arabic tutor, though, which has me a little concerned.

If you listen very closely you can hear a high, thin (drunken) "EMAW!" @ 0:46:22.
