I always assumed the whole "eat a good breakfast" was so that you weren't starving for lunch time and go out and eat a giant cheeseburger.

I haven't had breakfast since like the 8th grade.

I’ve recently started eating breakfast again. I have to say, it’s great.

If I stick to eggs and toast, I feel great. Pancakes and too much sausage or bacon makes me feel pretty bloated, though.

i have never liked eating breakfast and only felt pressured to do so by the "most important meal of the day" nonsense, or the occasional desire to eat 790 grams of sugar.

No sugar in the 2 fried eggs I ate this morning.

I have never regularly eaten breakfast and seldom at after 8 pm but i guess i wouldn't call that fasting.

I have been doing IF for about 8 months and have seen some pretty good results. Two days a week i have what i call my "lean days" i stick to under 500 calories for the whole day, less if possible.   I pretty much just eat vegetables with little to no oil.  A normal meal on those days is usually a big (4 serving size) bag of frozen veggies: broccoli, green beans, carrots.  If I forget to bring a lunch i get two veggie sides at the cafeteria though they generally do dress them up with a little oil or any kind of vegetable soup.  Really i mostly focus on calorie density, aiming for under 10 cal/ounce.

It an a few inches off my belly and waist and I lost 15 lbs pretty quick doing (10 first 3 months, 1/mo since)   though i'm sort of at a plateau right now.  My blood pressure also dropped 20 points over that 8 month period, which was the bigger driver for the change.

I really like it, the rest of the week i eat normally and i think that helps get through the lean days.

i started fasting for the first time 2 days ago for 16+ hours each night, and legit lifted heavier today. it could be something else, recently started creatine, but i also didn't sleep well last night. also have plateaued/declined recently. is it a thing for gains to come this quick when fasting?

I don't think there is any scientific reason that fasting would increase strength or energy levels but I'm guessing at least someone here would disagree with me.  Maybe just a mental boost?  Or the creatine?

It's just about staying hungry, according to my gym bros.

I’m sure it’s possible to see gains while fasting, I just don’t see how it could be better than eating responsibly. I’ve watched one or two Netflix docs on strongmen (not bodybuilders) and they all basically eat until they’re sick.

As a resident strongman I can confirm that eating until you are sick can help but eating responsibly yields better long term results.

the idea would be getting all your calories during your eating window and fasting for the testosterone boost. that guy just takes it to an extreme level, and i'm skeptical. i think there's something to it but i'm very skeptical that 1200 calories is enough

1200 isn’t enough
the point is to limit how much stress that you put you body through during ingestion

I could see fasting providing an "energy boost"  Its the inverse of being sleepy when you've had a big meal.    I know i can actually have problems winding down at night on my lean days

I enjoy breakfast too much. I have cut back though. I just have two eggs and maybe a slice of turkey only. As others have said, IF is great, but it is just a way to lower your calorie count for the day/week. There is no magic eating window or other BS people try to tell you. Skipping a meal makes you eat less calories and that is pretty much it. It is possible to have gainz while on a fast, but man it would be tough. I've been on a pretty good deficit for a month or so and some days are pretty tough at the gym. Going to look super sexy for pool season though..

A lot of the benefit is that you aren’t in a state of continually digesting food.  Your body can do other cellular repair etc because it’s not devoting it’s energy to processing the Big Mac you slogged back an hour ago.

I’ve done it
It works
It’s not hard

I would eat all my calories for the day 1800-2100 in one meal, the meal always followed that days workout.

I would eat Monday 8am, Tuesday at 2pm, Wednesday at 8pm, Thursday no food. And repeat the cycle.

The one meal should have the optimum % of protein, carb, and fat.

I would lose 3/4 lb. per cycle while maintaining muscle mass.

it’s not like I’m tired of WINNING, but dude, let me catch my breath.
