we used to hear right before tip-off at the basketball games until a few games ago? We would chant K.S.U. Wildcats. Thks.

Ummmm........if you can't figure this one out by listening even once then I'm not sure you should be allowed to vote or leave your home.

This is when you know you have a good product.  Customers asking each other for services they pay you to give them.  Gotta hand it to Fitz, it's free money i guess.

IRS email scam

Fortunately I have Kaspersky(sp) anti virus that picked up on the virus. Sucked me in I clicked on the IRS link that said,"More information here." It looked very legit. The email address wasn't quite right though. My wife informed me that the IRS DOES NOT use email to communicate. Those bastards who sent the bogus email have too much time on their hands. This is probably old news to the accountants on this board.

This is a funny thread, but mywillyispurple is right, there's a war against Fake Patty's and Aggieville in general being waged. It's why I decided to be the President of the Aggieville Business Association. No one in the booze industry could go anywhere near that position right now. I am in the middle of all of these discussions. It's a mess, but I love this business district. We as K-Staters often take for granted how unique and wonderful Aggieville is. It's the heart of this community, although residents literally cringe at that statement.

My best description is I'm caught in a remake of Footloose with Fake Patty's being dancing.

Now, there are some real problems with Fake Patty's -- it has grown to be internationally known is now attracting about 10-15k to town -- but it has been maligned by some city officials. It's a St. Patrick's Day Festival and only in Manhattan, Kan., would people be shocked that there is drinking involved. Most of the problems lie in the surrounding neighborhoods where citizens feel unsafe to be around the raging house parties -- attended mostly by under 21 kids and visitors to town -- that start early in the morning and go all night. Well, the reason why the neighborhoods weren't safe is a, RCPD command decision was made to have most of the officers in Aggieville and these neighborhoods were under patrolled.

As for the roots of Fake Patty's, it's about 10 years old (predating Tubby's ya clowns). Four guys on 91.9 were bemoaning St. Patrick's being on spring break, so they decided to have their own Fake Patrick's on the Saturday before spring break. The date was forever set and it is now an event that is having enormous economic impact on the area. No one is in charge of it. It's like saying someone is in charge of Thanksgiving and blaming the grocery stores for binge eating. The day is set when the university sets its calendars and just like bars preparing for home football games, all the bars do is open their doors for business and prepare for a busy day.

So, while joking about a bar starting Aggieville seems funny, please stop. There could be serious legal ramifications for that establishment if something goes wrong at Fake Patty's and a lawyer decides to sue any and everyone associated with it. Some residents of Manhattan are obsessed with this event, and want to punish Aggieville for something it did not create and cannot stop.

Love how Fitz doesn't have time to deal with customer's questions about recruits, but the second someone chimes in about Aggieville or Tubby's he pecks out a rough ridin' manifesto.

He's very busy or sick or tired for most topics except those that involved co-eds and excessive drinking.

It was another horrible half time show that I was ashamed of though. The material was homoertotica and had either of my kids been there I would not encourage them to watch a grown man in woman clothing dancing like a fool high on X at a 90's rave.

Re: as a parent i'm appalled there's a fake patty's day

a community drunk is going to get the cops, k-state admin and blue-bloods' attention. kids pissing in public streets. passed out in the street. throwing up in 'your' yard. tons of people form out of town, all drunk, partying into the next morning. bars over-crowded. mercy hospital treating booze-poisoned kids. budgets pressed for police protections. what the hell do you expect? they're suppose to allow a complete meltdown to what, public orgy? get real, people. emaw.

Re: as a parent i'm appalled there's a fake patty's day

well, these childish posts about the community trying to control a public drunk are just that, the work of, as bill would say, youngsters or idiots or perhaps bar owners. anyone want to fess up on the bar side?

the community is trying its best to let this event happen in some sort of control way that minimizes negative impacts on the community and participants alike. it's why we have government, to protect the general welfare. emaw.

Best thing Manhattan could do is support the crap out of this, market the crap out of this, and turn it into the midwest vs or Mardi Gras.   1. Sell permits for bars to open early/stay open later, 2. charge the eff out of everything, 3. profit.

I mean, every little KS town is trying to find a way to bring tourists in but Manhattan has the tourists and wants them the eff out.....

The tax rev of that day has to be insane.

Apparently not enough to support all of the police protection needed.

I'm surprised thousands of people come from out of town to this.  I was in school when this all started, and it was a lot of fun, one of the best days of the school year.  But i wouldn't drive from out of town to get drunk all day at a bunch of smelly bars, i could do that anywhere.
