oh, and I noticed you are bitching about wide receiver?  you serious?  not a need in this class.

who replaces Harper? you think we get by on Lockett, TT, and Sexton?  Miller is just awful.

This. We do not have a big wideout to throw to. We are stocked with little guys.

Going to need to start converting fullbacks if you want someone Harpers size.

Seriously, Harper's a freak.  You just don't get guys like that often.  Between Sexton, Lockett, TT, Trujillo and McDonald, your bases are mostly covered.  K. Klein or somebody else will get into the mix as a larger receiver as well.

Ok so who out of this recruiting class will come in and start right away on D? Spaight, Ramirez, Nash?

Spraight, Nash, Nate Jackson and some other corner...

I'd add Riyahd Jones and Marcus Hardison if we get them.

I mean, can you imagine Nash and Hardison starting opposite of each other?! Same with Jackson and Jones at Corner?!

 :excited:

you really are "that guy".

to those who refuted my prediction on Kliff Kingsbury's coaching career.  Please post your reasons for why he will be successful.  Is it because he played for Leach or coached an offense this year that won style points in your eyes?  There is so much more to building a program.

Here are the reasons why I believe he will fail...

1.  YOUTH.  He doesn't know what he doesn't know yet.  It's cool to float a hoodie on the sideline and chest bump Manziel...it's another to be a CEO of a $50M a year organization.
2.  LACK OF EMPHASIS ON A RUNNING GAME AND DEFENSE.  Kliff's into stylish offenses that throw the ball 50 times a game.  He only knows what Mike taught him.  He will not have a consistent running attack and he might yell at the guys to play some defense every once in a while.

Mike Leach is one of the very few head coaches who could have reasonable success with a pass happy offense.  But in most years his teams were no better than 8-4 types and he only threatened for a conference title once in his 10 years.  To be consistently good you must have a good running game and play pretty good defense.  it doesn't hurt to be good in special teams.

Tech should have done everything in their power to keep Tuberville happy.  He was building something because he believes in the running game and solid defense.  He was as competitive or even more competitive in the SEC than Leach was at Tech (he at least won the SEC and was more consistently and realistically in the hunt for the SEC crown moreso than Leach).

Thanks for listening and appreciate the give and take.  I'll be this guy >  in a few years when Kliff Kingsbury is called Kliff Katastrophe by the Lubbock natives, hoodie be damned.
Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

3.5....I think he sticks with us.  But even if he doesn't I won't meltdown about it.  I do find that reading this recruiting thread is very entertaining in a "don't take anyone serious" sort of way.

I do, too.  I think there's too much to risk letting them into the mix for him.

He can sign on Wednesday and report to KSU for the Spring semester and participate in Spring drills for a shot at a starting job next fall.  This is fact.

Everything with Arkansas is predicated on a lot of "if".  If he gets qualified.  If he gets there in time for Spring drills.  If he doesn't, can he realistically compete when he comes in during Summer camp.

If you're a JUCO kid with a limited clock left, are you willing to risk a sure thing on a bunch of "if"?  If so, you're a lot more daring than I am.

Again, look at the numbers where the scholarships are allotted and the true needs.  we don't need some tall receiver.  And, no, I am not suggesting we just get by with Lockett and Thompson.  We will have other receivers capable of making some plays.

Welp, we didn't have any other receivers capable of making some plays in '12.  Other than Harper, I can't recall a "bigger" receiver catching a pass.  I'm sure it happened, but I seriously can't recall.

You guys keep trying to apply logic to the decisions that 18-20 year old kids are making. When I was being recruited (in baseball), if KSU offered me even a preferred walk on spot I would have chosen that slim opportunity to play over going elsewhere with beyter prospects, and it wouldn't have even been a tough call for me.

His favorite team is offering him a scholarship...I wouldn't blame him in the least for taking a chance to play for his home team.

If you have a chance to do that, you buck up for a semester, or a winter class and get it done.

Did baby Klein ever catch a pass?  Regardless, we do have bigger receivers on the team but they're underclassmen.  Maybe we are trying to maybe pick up a juco guy but no more HS kids because we already have some young talent on the squad.

i agree with 'hatter that we don't need any more for this class. we lose mcfall and harper and we add gordon, vaughn (gs) and jones (gs). numbers-wise, it doesn't make sense. one of burton, klein, sexton, or west will inevitably step up and be productive. DT, LB and DB are what we need to focus on to round out this class.

welp, based on the observations from our recruiting efforts the coaches don't seem nearly as concerned about that area of the team.  I'm just guessing that may have something to do with analyzing some of the kids we have in the program on a daily basis.

Man, this has been a bad day for Cats recruiting.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

UT is a f*cking train wreck.  I still say Ole Miss is our biggest competition there.  I say we're still good.
