to those who refuted my prediction on Kliff Kingsbury's coaching career. Please post your reasons for why he will be successful. Is it because he played for Leach or coached an offense this year that won style points in your eyes? There is so much more to building a program.
Here are the reasons why I believe he will fail...
1. YOUTH. He doesn't know what he doesn't know yet. It's cool to float a hoodie on the sideline and chest bump Manziel...it's another to be a CEO of a $50M a year organization.
2. LACK OF EMPHASIS ON A RUNNING GAME AND DEFENSE. Kliff's into stylish offenses that throw the ball 50 times a game. He only knows what Mike taught him. He will not have a consistent running attack and he might yell at the guys to play some defense every once in a while.
Mike Leach is one of the very few head coaches who could have reasonable success with a pass happy offense. But in most years his teams were no better than 8-4 types and he only threatened for a conference title once in his 10 years. To be consistently good you must have a good running game and play pretty good defense. it doesn't hurt to be good in special teams.
Tech should have done everything in their power to keep Tuberville happy. He was building something because he believes in the running game and solid defense. He was as competitive or even more competitive in the SEC than Leach was at Tech (he at least won the SEC and was more consistently and realistically in the hunt for the SEC crown moreso than Leach).
Thanks for listening and appreciate the give and take. I'll be this guy >

in a few years when Kliff Kingsbury is called Kliff Katastrophe by the Lubbock natives, hoodie be damned.
