I feel a little better after reading about the on-line math course.  Hopefully this dude really hates math.

Really wish he would reconsider so that I can call him

THE ACE OF SPAIGHTs

all the time and make posters for him and yell that whenever he makes a big play like a sack or something

That would be fun to yell.

Yep, we've got that going for us.  But, considering it's "on-line" and the SEC, I think we can probably grapple the success rate.

Meh, this happens to everyone else all the time.  It's just new to KSU fans because it's the first time we're getting commits that others want too.  It comes with the territory.  If you look at the twitter feed on ESPN's CFB page it is constantly say "Top 25 program commit so-and-so reopens their recruitment".

If I'm a kid, and I'm qualified somewhere, and there's uncertainty somewhere else, I'm going with the sure thing.  JUCO guys can't screw around.  They don't have that luxury.

I know that everyone is saying, "Well, online math classes are pud," but we don't know how much he likes/hates math and if he's any good at it.

And this is the dreaded math credit that screws over all of these SEC kids.  Let's just not assume it's pud.  If it were, Arkansas Baptist would have the highest enrollment in the Southland.

If I'm his coach, I'm telling him to go to take the sure thing.  But I realize that the smart move probably isn't what most kids do.

The kid is a huge Arkansas fan, and I can respect that he wants to play for them. I just wish that the huge K-State fans who commit to Gundy would feel the same way about us.

IMO, I agree. It's like trying to score at the bar. Always take the sure thing.

The other thing is that, if he's qualified here, he can probably participate in Spring Ball.  If he has to take a class at Arkansas Baptist, is that a semester course online?  A winter intersession?

My point is that there may be a risk that he misses Spring Ball at Arkansas vs. going through that here with a good chance to start or get significant playing time right away.

This feels like a pure head vs. heart decision.  I may be missing some details, but if that's the case, hopefully our coaches and people helping him make this decision are appealing to logic and common sense.

I didn't grow up wanting to go to K-State.  But I did, and I'm glad that I did.  A certain set of circumstances lead me there, and it worked out well for me.  Hopefully, Spaight ends up the same way.

I don't think they're huge K-State fans.  I think they grow up rooting for a Kansas team, but they don't have a strong affection for either.

Like, "I root for KU in basketball and KSU in football because I'm from Kansas."

If there's a want for tall receivers maybe we can get this guy to walk on?

http://rivals.yahoo.com/kansasstate/football/recruiting/player-Kaleb-Whitehair-139717

I'm assuming he's the little brother to the Whitehair currently on the team. Anyone can confirm?

Possible Jordy Nelson DITR there. I'd take.

:Edit: Give him preferred walk on and I'm sure he'd come. No D1 school is going to offer him.

Looks like he's choosing between us, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Nebraska, one OK state jumps in on him, he's gone.

To me it looks like he's hoping those schools will offer him a scholly. I don't think any of them will. He'll end up walking on at either KU or K-State.

Doesn't sound good.  Bielema had an in home and Martrell was "impressed with Bielema" and he always wanted an offer from Arkansas and he bled red and to get the offer was a great feeling.

still getting a kick out of this "need" for a big receiver to replace Harper.

1) there is zero urgency in the recruiting to find one.  That is evident...maybe we can read between the lines to see that the staff doesn't feel it's a pressing need?  It's innovative thinking..or not.

2) So if we land said tall receiver, does that mean this Harper departure is filled?  What I find to be amusing is that we assume we can go out there and just find a body that fills his void.  Nope.  We may very well have something as close as we're going to get on the roster in Burton or this Jackson fella.

Again, look at the numbers where the scholarships are allotted and the true needs.  we don't need some tall receiver.  And, no, I am not suggesting we just get by with Lockett and Thompson.  We will have other receivers capable of making some plays.
Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

Maybe Miller doesn't suck that bad?  :dunno:  He had that one drop against Oklahoma (I think?), that's the only bad play I can think of.
