So we found our next Nigel, who's next? You would think we could recruit playing time. We're losing a lot of play makers.

http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/61085/the-big-12-recruiting-scorecard-december

1. Texas Longhorns

Total commits: 14
ESPN 150 commits: 7
Key commits: QB Tyrone Swoopes, C Darius James, OT Jake Raulerson, OT Kent Perkins
Class update: Texas lost running back Kyle Hicks this week to TCU, but the Horns picked up ATH Chevoski Collins since our last update, giving their class 10 commits in the ESPN 300.

2. Oklahoma Sooners

Total commits: 14
ESPN 150 commits: 2
Key commits: RB Keith Ford, DE D.J. Ward, QB Cody Thomas
Class update: Oklahoma hasn't added any big names since our last update, but juco kicker Jed Barnett, ATH Dominique Alexander and S Ahmad Thomas joined the fold and half of OU's class is in the ESPN 300.

3. Baylor Bears

Total commits: 21
ESPNU 150 commits: 1
Key commits: WR Robbie Rhodes, QB Chris Johnson, OLB Raaquan Davis, RB Johnny Jefferson
Class update: This is still shaping up to be Briles' best class ever at Baylor. He's added OG Rami Hammad and juco center Tyler Edwards since our last update.

4. Oklahoma State Cowboys

Total commits: 20
ESPNU 150 commits: 0
Key commits: WR Fred Ross Jr., WR Marcell Ateman, DT Vincent Taylor, CB Darius Curry
Class update: Oklahoma State's not far behind Baylor, and has four commits in the ESPN 300, compared to just two for the Bears. They added DT Ben Hughes, OT Jesse Robinson, S Tre Flowers, K Ben Grogan, S Taylor Lewis and OT Brandon Garrett since our last update.

5. West Virginia Mountaineers

Total commits: 22
ESPNU 150 commits: 0
Key commits: LB Hodari Christian, ILB Darrien Howard, S Malik Graves, ILB Al-Rasheed Benton
Class update: West Virginia has five more players since our last update and has one commit in the ESPN 300. ILB Al-Rasheed Benton joined the fold on Oct. 22 and is WVU's second-best recruit. S Malik Graves is No. 3 for the 'Eers, and DE Marvin Gross also committed last month. WVU also added a trio of juco transfer commits in the past couple of weeks, highlighted by Dreamius Smith, one of the best juco backs in the country who originally signed with KU out of high school. Just one commit in this class from Texas so far.

6. TCU Horned Frogs

Total commits: 16
ESPNU 150 commits: 0
Key commits: RB Kyle Hicks, OLB Paul Whitmill, OLB Sammy Douglas,
Class update: TCU moves ahead of Texas Tech after swiping ESPN 300 member and Longhorns commit Kyle Hicks from Texas, the new highest-rated member of the class. It was the only addition for TCU since our last update, but it's a biggie.

7. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Total commits: 21
ESPNU 150 commits: 0
Key commits: ATH Devin Lauderdale, QB-PP Davis Webb, WR Dylan Cantrell, CB Maurice Chandler
Class update: The nation's No. 57 running back, Daryl Chestnut, is the best commit added since our last update. OT Cody Hayes and juco back Rodriguez Moore has also committed. Thirteen of Tech's 21 commits are at least three stars.

8. Iowa State Cyclones

Total commits: 25
ESPNU 150 commits: 0
Key commits: OT Shawn Curtis, QB-PP Joel Lanning, CB D.A. Williams, RB Tyler Brown
Class notes: Iowa State has the biggest class in the Big 12, and 19 of its 25 commits have three stars or more. OT Shawn Curtis, the nation's No. 29 tackle, is the new highest-rated member of the class. Iowa State also stole OT Jake Campos from Missouri earlier this month. He's the fifth-best recruit in the class. Iowa State also added DE Ernest Suttles, DT Vernell Trent, CB Jalen Barnes, ATH Alton Meeks and juco DE Rodney Coe.

9. Kansas Jayhawks

Total commits: 13
ESPNU 150 commits: 0
Key commits: TE Ben Johnson, LB Kellen Ash, QB Jordan Darling
Class update: Kansas has added five commits since our last update, but every one of them comes from the juco ranks. CB Dexter McDonald, DT Tederian Johnson, ILB Samson Faifili, WR Mark Thomas, and OG Ahongalu Fusimalohi. More than half of KU's class (seven commits) are juco transfers.

10. Kansas State Wildcats

Total commits: 8
ESPNU 150 commits: 0
Key commits: ILB Isaiah Williams, ILB Tanner Wood, DE Jordan Willis, CB Cre Moore
Class update: Kansas State added two commits since our last update, headlined by CB Cre Moore, from Broken Arrow, Okla. Juco OLB Travis Green is also headed to Manhattan.

We do but Bill cares two shits about what we look like. In fact I think he tries harder than any coach.

and some of you refer to the other site as 'tards.  haruumph!

You should have zero concerns about recruiting at the moment.  Defense is the side of the ball to watch with some anxiety this recruiting season but we're in great position with a number of kids.  BTW, even if we don't land your own personal favorite then why freak out?  Let me give you an example as to how Snyder's staff operates:

Two juco DE prospects:

1) Chris Martin - CCSF.  Kid was 5 star everything in high school.  He's even rated as a 4 star now at the moment though big programs are not getting in line to sign him.  He's been contacted a number of times by GPC since last summer and states KSU has mild interest.  He has said many times he "wishes" KSU would recruit him.  He had 4.5 sacks this season and I'm kind of meh about his video on hudl.  Plays high, likely takes plays off....oh, he's definitely a talent but a high risk/reward type IMO.  Guess who wants him?  KU.

2) Arnold Blackmon - Navarro.  He's mister no star and only 6'1 ish and 235ish.  Only a few offers from mid-major type programs.  But guess what?  Kid makes play after play after play.  Non-stop motor, uses his hands, plays at a great heigh level.  Guess who just offered Blackmon?  KSU.

Two examples.  Tards will look at the two and see a 4 star vs. a 2 star and think the failure was on KSU's part.  Then both show up at their respective campuses.  Adam Davis wasn't all that flashy for us this year but he is what the coaches want...an every down effort player who is reliable.  Get some playmakers at a few other positions to surround him and snap, another double digit win season and a championship.

For the record, would I like to see KSU sign a few more highly ranked kids?  Sure.  Does that necessarily translate to wins?  Hell no.
Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.
