we didn't really use a hybrid spot this year.  In obvious passing situations we went with a nickel corner and 4 DEnds for the pass rush.  One would think we can improve the latter part of that with the young DEs and/or juco DE.

BTW, both Eddie Porter and Ishmail Hayes are visiting.  Porter was a former aTm LB commit who dumped them after Sherman was fired.  Both are committed to Iowa State at the moment.  Hayes has a lot of potential as a pass rusher (but he's thin and not that strong 6'5 235-240ish).  Porter has a lot of good offers and would likely be top candidate to step in for Lamur...bigger than Lamur at 6'3 245-250.

We went with Lamur at one of the LB spots, so it was basically a hybrid.  Not as drastic as Rat playing LB but Lamur is not the prototypical LB.  Regardless, our DL should be solid.  Garrett, Lamur, and Tysyn leave.  Looks like we either have or will have likely candidates to replace Tysyn and Rat.  Lamur is the one guy that I am having trouble figuring out a replacement for.  I'm sure we'll figure something out.

you can't "greyshirt" jucos.  The clock has already started for jucos.  We either have room or we don't.

Correct.  We can grayshirt a couple of the high school kids to get the JUCO guys in.  We've done that for years.
