I think maybe?  :dunno:

Joe Rogan thinks she is.

We all know our Cats play at a slow pace (frustratingly so at times, but whatevs), but this year the NCAA committee has decided to group KSU with all the other slowest teams in the country it seems. It starts at the top, with the best slow team of them all in Virginia. Is this good for KSU? Should our Cats look to push tempo, especially with a healthy Diarra and potentially no Wade?

Seed. Team Possessions (tempo rank)
1. Virginia 59.3 (353)
16. Gardner Webb 67.1 (196)

8. Ole Miss 68.3 (129)
9. Oklahoma 68.7 (112)

5. Wisconsin 63.6 (332)
12. Oregon 64.1 (328)

4. K-State 63 (342)
13. UC Irvine 65.1 (296)

6. Villanova 63.6 (333)
11. St. Mary's 62.6 (347)

3. Purdue 65.6 (276)
14. Old Dominion 64.3 (325)

7. Cincinnati 63.2 (338)
10. Iowa 69.4 (82)

2. Tennessee 67.7 (155)
15. Colgate 66.3 (236)

I mean half of the teams in the region are ranked 300 or lower in kenpom adjusted tempo, and that's not even counting UC Irvine at 296.

If KSU [63 (342)] wins and the bracket plays to chalk Cat opponents would be:
UC Irvine 65.1 (296)
Wisconsin 63.6 (332)
Virginia 59.3 (353)
Tenn 67.7 (155)

Kansas State Basketball / 3 Free Tix for tonight: Sec 18, Row 25

I can text them or whatever.

Guys, we’ve all known our guy was coming for like a week now. Soon we’ll get introduced to splash hire and overall stud Wildcat head football coach Seth LittreLL at his very own introductory press conference with local and national media.

gE already gave the media the scoop on Seth. Now let’s make sure they know EXACTLY what to ask OUR GUY on Monday or whatever.

Ex. Hey coach, Kansas State football has a long tradition of stud linebackers. What are your thoughts on giant neck rolls and cowboy collars?

This dood is so JYC it hurts. Needs more minutes. Will be fan fave by season’s end. My guy.

I will willingly give $1000 of my own money to make this happen.

Better yet, let's pull a Huggins aka we convince Bob S. or someone like that to come coach KSU. We keep this hush hush and let said stud coach recruit studs to come play for him while not on staff so he can recruit whatever studs he chooses however he chooses, including stud players from other teams.

Then when they all get here we throw a big party and kick everyone's asses!

Also, mods move to Venzy or similar thread.

Kansas State Football / Talking sports on
« on: September 02, 2018, 07:22:40 PM »
I miss it. Last night's game was a crap show for sure, and the type of debacle the used to lead to some pretty decent convo here.

I came on last night and it was crickets, so I went over to KSO and took advantage of the free subscription hoping to find something there. Woof. Browns hollering at browns about brown level talking points. Kinda nice to read the stories though, I guess.

It's my opinion that the smartest, most knowledgeable and humourous Cat fans still reside on this board. I know most of us are on Twitter, etc., but it's not really the same. What happened? Are we all just over it? I know I've been pretty apathetic the last couple of seasons, but felt this team had/ has a decent shot to do something.

Last night's game was infuriating yet humorous (since we actually ended up winning). The type that would at least result in a few meltdowns.

What's it gonna take for gE to re-engage? I miss it.

Essentially Flyertalk / Lawn dudes plz help
« on: July 06, 2018, 03:26:21 PM »
Note: Mods plz dont move to the main lawn thread for a bit. I'm looking for answers here.

I'm at a crossroads w/ what to do next w/ my lawn, after a few months of trying to restore it. Here is the rough plan.

Fall 18 - Overseed
Spring 19 - Pre-emergent Crabgrass preventer
Fall 19 - Overseed

I was too late to apply pre-emergent crabgrass preventer this spring, so I just overseeded and fertilized the new grass and old grass with Scott's Lawn food rather than starter fertilizer. That was April 5.

I could put some fertilizer on now, but then I wouldnt be able to fertilize the overseed this fall.

What should I do?

I'm talking the games, offseason, fan interaction, etc. regardless of who your team is or if they are good or not.

For me it's the NBA and it isn't even close. I don't even have an NBA team, but the league is by far the most fun to follow and has the most humanized/ accessible stars. There is constant drama mid-season and in the offseason. There are fewer players and they're more highly exposed. The league markets it's stars and players have a lot of power.

The regular season is a bit long, but there is always great matchups on TV. The NBA playoffs are the best postseason imo.

My rankings go like this:

1. NBA - top shelf. I don't have a team.
2. College Football - Best in season wire to wire. Go Cats!
3. NFL - Easy lazy TV watching on Sundays, playoffs are aight. I don't have a team.
4. College Basketball - My interest in regular season is pretty much centered on Cats. If they're not good i'm tuned out. Like the tourny
5. MLB - Totally Royals dependent. If they suck, little interest -- even the WS (though Ill watch).
6. College Baseball - CWS is meh on TV, never been. I couldn't name you a single college baseball player. Don't even really care about the Cats. Couldn't name one Cat baseball player.
7. NHL - Actually great product, just not interested.
8. MLS - Similar to NHL (at least KC makes it seem that way).

Note: Don't care about Euro soccer, and World Cup is like Olympics not a regular sports league. Also, not including individual sports.

Kansas State Football / LHC Bill Snyder saved Kansas State University
« on: December 08, 2017, 03:05:50 AM »
That's rough ridin' incredible man.

I get that Delton is limited as a young QB, but when did we have to just concede to tipping our hand every single play?  Is it that hard to simply run off tackle? Can we not execute a simple under-center snap?  Is a speed option something that just can't work in today's game?  We have a stable of running backs and speedy recoevers. Can we not find a way to get them the ball in space?

Our offense is boring, predictable and tired. I'm tired of it.

Kansas State Football / Minimizing mistakes over making plays
« on: November 07, 2016, 06:02:50 PM »
I've spent the better part of this afternoon watching the 1997 Fiesta Bowl and one thing more than any stuck out to me.

K-State made a ton of big plays in the game due to improvisation on offense and intense aggression on defense. They also made a noticeable number of mistakes both big and small: penalties, big turnovers, missed tackles because of incorrect pursuit.

This is nothing new of course. We all know the 1998 Cats were the most penalized team in college football that year.

I started thinking when watching this beatdown of the McNabb-led Orangemen, that perhaps those two years -- especially the way the 1998 CCG ended -- were the early embers of Snyder's progressively risk-averse style of coaching, recruiting and overall program managing.

Not one time did the PBP or color guy talk about Kansas State's discipline or blue-collar type work ethic. Yet they continuously noted the speed, strength and playmaking ability of players across the roster.

I would say the trend has ended up hurting the program's success over the last 18 or so years than it has helped.

I dunno.

Nicname Jr has tons of it. I can't stop eating it. It makes my tummy ache.

There is like 3 pounds of this stuff in multiple ziploc storage bags. Pretty sure I ate at least 200 starburst jelly beans last night.
