well this thread is a real eye opener. I worked at Wildcat Creek when they first opened up their golf course. I used to shag balls in the poison ivy bushes next to the range because I was "immune." I also was a summer camp director for 20 years and I took care of poison ivy myself for the same reason. Knowing that _33 never had an issue until later in life leads me to the understanding that I just need to be happy for my previous good luck and to no longer tempt fate and just leave it the f alone going forth.

same. not all the details obv

How do people take the goofy hat and Botox/plastic surgery induced early 00s Von Dutch/Trucker hat aesthetic seriously?

That is a righteous story, slim.

I ate a whole box of Cheez-Its on a drive the other day. Like a big box. Cheez its are so damn good. If there was an animal that tasted like Cheez-Its I would hunt it non-stop for its flesh. Even during non-hunting season. I would poach it.

They are a perfected snack.

Funny that all of the stuff I said earlier, for some reason applies far less to me in baseball than in football or basketball.

I get annoyed by all the lame ass celebrations in baseball and really most sports now.

I will maintain to my grave (soon since I'm old) that the most devastating celebration will always be to act like what you just did is the most boring, normal, easiest thing in the world for you.

It’s always been about the type of celebration to me. Not a fan of self-aggrandizement. Never have been.

Like, Michael Bishop pumping up the crowd in the corner of the endzone after that run vs NU is peak celebration. Teammates jumping on each other after a QB sack, or chest bumping after a great play in basketbal, and yelling in each other’s faces to hype each other up is great.

Guys doing a bunch of “look at me” stuff has always been lame.

Learning some good facts about the Middle Eastern Front of WWIII in the facebook comments section of KAKE.com (tl/dr: time to pray for the President You Love to Hate, Demoncrap Marxists!!!)

Quote
FOR THOSE TOO YOUNG TO UNDERSTAND...OR TOO STUBBORN OR LAZY TO CARE...FACTS ABOUT IRAN!
Looking at some of the reactions of those on social media to President Trump's bombing of three Iranian nuclear weapons facilities, I will lay out the facts for you that you have either chosen to ignore, or were too young to realize:
1) It was the 1979 "Revolution" when Iranian radical Muslim extremists (similar to the Marxist Democrats rioting in LA right now) rioted, set fire to, terrorized and destroyed businesses and civilians (again, much like the Marxist Democrats rioting in LA) and overthrew the Shah of Iran. This was a leader installed and supported by the United States. I admit he wasn't elected by "we the people" but he at least allowed certain freedoms to the Iranian people, especially women.
2) During this revolution, these radical Muslim extremists illegally invaded sovereign American territory at the American Embassy in Tehran. There, they held American workers (about 100 of them) hostage for over one year. During this time, Democrat President Jimmy Carter attempted diplomatic methods with them, even long after it was obvious they had no interest in a diplomatic solution. One year, these Americans were kept in terror, and away from their families. One year where Democrat leadership in the United States failed to take real action. Only once, towards the end, did they try a "rescue" mission that was a compelte and total failure, resulting in US helicopters crashing in the desert and American soldiers killed and weaponry destroyed.
3) In 1981, the American hostages were realeased after 444 days in captivity. Their release coincided with the inauguration of a US President elected on a "peace through strength" platform, Ronald Reagan. I was at the inauguration when it was announced the hostages were in the air. They were released because they knew Reagan would not seek diplomatic options for their release. Their nation would be wiped from the map.
4) In 1987, the US reinstated sanctions against Iran due to terrorist actions throughout the region. In 1995 these sanctions were increased to include businesses dealing with this terrorist government in Iran.
5) In 2006, the United Nations sanctioned Iran for failing to comply with UN Resolution demanding that Iran halt it's uranium enrichment programs. These sandctions included oil and gas embargos as well as financial freezes as well. In subsequent years, additional sanctions were imposed due to their failure to comply with the worldwide Atomic Energy governing body. Their failure to allow inspections of nuclear facilities and their continued push forward to develop nuclear weapons caused more sanctions.
6) Under Democrat President Barrack Hussein Obama (born Barry Soreto and raised by Muslim grandparents), $1.7 billion in US cash was delivered in secret, overnight, on a plane loaded with pallets of cash. This was 2016 and it was clear that the Iranians would use this influx of cash to increase the development of their nuclear weapons pursuit.
7) After Democrat John Kerry, at the instruction of Democrat Barrack Obama, "negotiated" a deal with the Iranians to basically allow them free reign to pursue nuclear weapons to use against Israel, the US and other "enemies" of Iran.
😎 In 2012, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (Democrat) sold Iran 20% of the US uranium, the key component to making nuclear weapons.
9) Upon Republican President Donald Trump's first election, he immediately ended this to prevent the destruction of the US, Israel and nuclear weapons in the hands of extreme terrorists. He immediately reimposed sanctions that had been lifted by the previous Democrat administration.
10) Since then, money that had been provided by the world, through the JCPOA, to help the people of Iran, was used by the Terrorists in charge to build their military and specifically to enhance uranium production.
Year after year, Iran has refused to comply with diplomatic methods, or sanctions, or UN demands for transparency in their nuclear weapons development. Year after year, Marxist Democrats with Muslim ties have continued to allow, support and even encourage their pursuit of nuclear weapons they would use to destroy Israel and the United States and any other "enemy," as terrorists do.
Trumps successful bombing of these facilities has finally put a stop to their nuclear weapons and also, along with Israeli success with eliminating the terrorist leaders, have now made Iran a trembling skeleton of a country committed to terrorism around the world. If you do not now understand the actions and that they are the culmination of 40 years of attempted diplomacy and Marxist Democrat enabling, then you aren't interested in truth.
The world is a safer place due to this action. We are not "at war" and we won't be. This action made sure there would be no war.
Pray for safety, pray for our troops and pray for our leaders, even the President you love to hate.

Starting the timeline with the 1979 revolution, then later mostly glossing over, but also kind of hinting that the installation of the Shah was a good thing is something.

We just  spent a week in Colorado, including two days camping in a cabin, hiking, etc. On public land.

Left my phone at home to be away from the news, social media, etc.

It was nice, both to be in real nature and also away from the “current thing” and opinions about the current thing for awhile.

Public land = good

Enjoy learning about the Pentecostal shift of focus from Xenolalia - speaking in the listener’s language while not knowing how to speak said language, and glossolalia - speaking an unintelligible “language” that no one understands. The latter is what Pentecostals, charismatics, etc., do now.

Statement by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East
Damascus, June 22, 2025

On this day when our Antiochian Church commemorates All the Saints of Antioch, the treacherous hand of evil struck this evening, claiming our lives, along with the lives of our loved ones who fell today as martyrs during the evening Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Prophet Elias in Dweilaa, Damascus.

According to the initial information available at this time, an explosion occurred at the entrance of the church, resulting in the deaths of numerous martyrs and causing injuries to many others who were inside the church or in its immediate vicinity.

As we are currently counting the martyrs and the wounded, and gathering the remains and bodies of our martyrs, whose exact number we have not yet been able to determine, the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East strongly condemns this heinous act and denounces, in the strongest terms, this horrific crime. It calls upon the responsible authorities to assume full responsibility for what has happened and continues to happen in terms of violation against the sanctity of churches, and to ensure the protection of all citizens.
His Beatitude Patriarch John X has been personally following the developments from the very first moment. He is conducting both local and regional communications to convey the grim reality unfolding in Damascus to the entire world. He is calling for urgent action to put an end to these massacres.
We offer our prayers for the repose of the souls of the martyrs, for the healing of the wounded, and for the consolation of our grieving faithful. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to our faith and, through that steadfastness, our rejection of all fear and intimidation. We beseech Christ our God to guide the ship of our salvation through the storms of this world, He who is blessed forever.
